Lucky St James needs a break. She and her grandmother Stella have been caring for each other for decades after Lucky's mom passed but now Stella is more and more losing herself to dementia and the they are at risk of losing their home. After Lucky finds an old spoon in the basement, she finds herself on a new adventure, grandma in tow, to Salem and a coven of witches. Her road trip extends as she slowly grows into herself using her old self to support her new identity as the sixth witch.

While there is action, this is more of a slower character study as Lucky reflects on what her mother taught her as she meets a new family of women and continues to care for her grandmother. All the stories of the coven are interesting but also detract a bit from the action. I do appreciate the women power message of coming out from patriarchy. The women are fab and I enjoyed Lucky's character.
