Martin | 35800 comments Menachem, how does this meet Goodreads criteria for a series?

Menachem Rath | 2098 comments Martin,

It appears that I was wrong in creating this series.
For my education:
I assume you refer to the section "Imprints are not series" in Librarian Manual: Adding books to a new or existing series

To my defense I would like to point out the section "series" in Librarian Manual: Book edit page – the title field
and the example:
"Methods of Modern Mathematical Physics, Vol. 1: Functional Analysis"
Which led me to believe that series may be used to nonfiction/academic books and collections of someone's life work in the form of several volumes.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Martin | 35800 comments The second example there is demonstrating how to format a book title which has its series data as part of the title, it is not intended to imply that such a series would qualify as a 'series' on Goodreads. It is the case that a Goodreads 'series' listing is principally for fiction where characters and/or 'worlds' are common to a set of books.

Menachem Rath | 2098 comments Thanks for the clarification, I'll delete the series.
I cannot say I understand why nonfiction and academic series of books are not acceptable as Goodreads series, but rules should be respected.

Martin | 35800 comments I don't understand the reasoning behind many Goodreads standards, but any database will have quirks
