I voted for this book thinking I could get it through inter-library loan, but it’s not available right now! 😭Either I’ll have to wait in hopes that it’s suddenly available, or I’ll have to see what the e-book costs. (But I’m supposed to be on a book-buying ban right now.😅)

My library has it available on Libby, but it was a 6-week wait, so I just bought it. I like supporting Christian authors anyway, so it’s ok.

Hi guys! In case anyone didn’t see yet, the discussion thread is up now! I couldn’t make it before bc GR had a thread creation limit for the hour, but Ellie made it! Thanks!

Her winter souls series has grown very popular too

 1. grandma Lewis
      1. grandma Lewis2. Cress
3.
4. the little epilogue-like ending was horrible, but the overall ending was goods for the story.
5. meh, not for me

      1. Who was your favorite character?
Kate for fav MC; Shayne for fav humorous side character; Mor for fav serious side character.
2. Who was your least favorite character?
Honestly, probably Cress. He needed much more development.
3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? (Spoiler?)
The last chapter. It's kind of (view spoiler).
4. What did you think of the ending? (Spoiler tags, please!)
I liked how it ended, but thought it could have been developed more.
5. What was your overall opinion?
I was recovering from foot surgery, so I think my opinion might have been swayed by being in pain. I enjoyed it mostly, but I think it had some writing issues. But, like I said, I was in pain, so I couldn't concentrate very well. It deserves a reread when I am feeling better and have caught up on some other books.

Glad you liked it! I just started it today and I must admit, the writing is good but not the best; I certainly liked the winter souls series writing better, but we shall see!!

      1. Who was your favorite character?
- MOR, then Cress, then Kate.
2. Who was your least favorite character?
- Connor and Bonswick. I wasn't a huge fan of Lily, either, tbh.

I thought it was good, but could've been developed a little more!
5. What was your overall opinion?
one of my new faves! i loved the fall vibes it gave off. It was such a cozy rom-com/romantasy read, and I loved the fae elements of it! the world building was nice and warm, and I loved the characters! Mor was my fav, but all of them were super funny! I love kropf's humor and after finishing annotating this book, I can't wait to go back and look at them, because this read was such a thrill!

 1. Grandma Lewis and Mor, for sure! Loved 'em both. And Lily reminded me of my cousin, so I developed a little soft spot for her too. <3

4. I... liked it well enough, I suppose, but something felt a little off to me. I'm not sure why, but it's been bugging me a little, heh. Not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the story, though!
5. It was a fun, cozy, and whimsical ride, and I was 100% there for it! It had me grinning and laughing out loud multiple times, which is exactly what I needed at the time, and I couldn't help but love the world, vibes, and (most of) the characters. Very fun book, and one I can definitely see myself rereading in the future, especially on days when I need a little lighthearted pick-me-up. 😊
 1. Favorties: Kate honestly. And maybe the professor who believed her 😂
      1. Favorties: Kate honestly. And maybe the professor who believed her 😂2. The red headed girl maybe? I would have liked to see more closure there. It almost felt like the author kind of forgot about her.
3. Cressica's name. Too feminine! What about Cressicor or just plain Cress? I dunno, reminds me too much of Jessica/Jess. It was hard to get past/take him seriously for a good chunk of the book.
4. Last chapter felt horribly awkward to me. I think she was going for funny but I just felt so mortified for both of them! I always like a happy ending though so that's a plus.
5. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. It was my first cozy novel and it really had all the feels. I think some of the writing could have been more polished, and at times it was hard to visualize the characters, but that could just be me not clicking with the writing style fully.
All the fae were so fun, I couldn't possibly pick a favorite. I liked the White Witch vibe for the fae queen, and how Cress found healing in a new life.
For being a cozy novel I was surprised at the depth of some of the mature life themes involved, but it kept me from having a dismissive attitude toward the otherwise light hearted story. She packed a lot into one novel, and while a little underdeveloped in parts, made a rich world to suspend my disbelief for.
I loved how clean it was, but still a very sweet romance. It was hard for me to root for Cress, took a while to get a feel for his softer interior. Overall though, I can see myself rereading this book next fall, or any time I'm in the mood for cinnamon candles and a cup of tea.
Sorry for such a long review, and thanks to everyone who voted for this one because I didn't and I'm so glad it won! 😂

I agree with a lot of what you said, Angela! I am glad you liked it so much even though there were ways it could have been better.😍

Thanks, Angela! It’s been a longer recovery than I anticipated. I am learning I have to be patient and not push things.

That can be so hard! Patience and asking those around for help when you're used to being able to just do it.

I agree about Cressica's name being feminine lol. Although just Cress isn't much better, because it makes me think of Cress form The Lunar Chronicles.

I haven’t read cress yet so maybe that’s why his name didn’t bother me, but cress seems like a unisex name imo :)

I agree, Angela, that it could’ve been more polished in certain parts. Also, yeah I forgot about the red head neighbor too 😂😬 and I felt like dranian was hardly there lol
The ending was a happy one but felt too sudden? Idk a lot of time passed by in this book but it was very fast paced soo… yeah
Glad you liked it though!!

@Angela and @Taz— thanks so much for your concern.💜 It is hard to just sit around and not do anything! I thought I was going to love the extra time to read, but even that gets old. My family has been super helpful, but it’s just not the same as me being able to just do things when and how I want to.

      1. Who was your favorite character?Hmm... Mor, I think.
2. Who was your least favorite character?
the queen. 😠
3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? (Spoiler?)
I agree with Angela--Cressica's name is too feminine. As a Jessica, it weirded me out that his name rhymes with mine. 😂

5. What was your overall opinion?4
I think it was a sweet read, though a bit confusing at times.

 1. Who was your favorite character?
      1. Who was your favorite character?Probably Mor, although Shayne was a close second.
2. Who was your least favorite character?
Connor. Couldn’t stand that guy, and I’m honestly confused why Kate and Lily put up with him.
3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be?
Oh, man. This is a really hard question to answer, because there are a lot of things I’d change. 😬 I guess I’ll say…the amount of unrealistic things that happened.
4. What did you think of the ending? (Spoiler tags, please!)
It was okay. 🤷♀️ One part caught me off guard, so that was exciting.
5. What was your overall opinion?
I liked the quirkiness and coffee shop setting, but the story never quite worked for me. There were too many moments that seemed completely unrealistic, and I got tired of trying to suspend my disbelief. It didn’t help that I didn’t care for the main characters all that much until near the end. There were a lot of funny moments, though! I absolutely loved the part where Cress bit into the cookie with raisins!

I loved Mor too! And hated Conor lol
I agree that there were a lot of unrealistic scenes, but the book was still funny lol
Ahhh yess the raisin scene! So good haha

It perfectly described the way I feel when I bite into a cookie that I thought was chocolate chip. 😂
 1. Who was your favorite character?
      1. Who was your favorite character?I'm not sure... maybe Shayne.
2. Who was your least favorite character?
Idk... either the Queene or Conner.
3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? (Spoiler?)
I'd prob give it another round of edits. please stop talking about your turquoise yes Cress lol. Also... faeborn....
4. What did you think of the ending? (Spoiler tags, please!)
It was alright. Nothing particularly amazing, and I feel like things worked out a little too easily, maybe? (view spoiler)
5. What was your overall opinion?
It was pretty cute and funny, I loved seeing the fae's interactions with the human world. It's not my fav, and I'm not sure if I'll ever continue the series, but it was pretty good.
