This is a collection of essays from a poet surrounding food which makes it a bit of a memoir. Short, simple, mainly pleasant with some lovely illustrations starting each essay.

Some lines that struck me and give a sense of the collection:

"If there is a better-smelling vegetable than a tomato grown in dirt and ripened in the sun I don't know it." (I agree.)

"...I still giggle that we all know this finger measure method even though we all grew up like scattered rice across the country..."

"Have I created a singular dish that can hold the place of leche flan as a signifier for celebrations and jamborees for over five decades?"
