Sue wrote: "My first "Fall Into Smut" book of the season - and Theresa I hope we do this every Fall!..."Believe me, I have been thinking just that ... it is as you describe the perfect escape and relief from heavier reading and for me challenge fatigue.
You know I have the hutzpah to make it annual!
I went for paranormal and shape shifting!! 😭Definitely going to step in Sue’s footsteps from now on though…

There is something of a plot here. Each book in the series takes place in the same paranormal universe, and the author has done a lot of universe-building from book to book, keeping up an overall story arc over time.
Our main characters:
- Andre is a Carpathian vampire hunter. Like all Carpathian men, there can be only one "lifemate" for him, and after many years he's given up hope of ever finding her. As the book opens, he's just finished a battle with a master vampire, is critically wounded, and escapes to a cave to recover and try to heal his wounds.
- Geologist Teagan is hiking through the area searching for a specific rock, or gem, or crystal - she'll know it when she finds it. She's a healer, and uses special minerals and gems to help her with this special power. She's also just escaped from an evil man who lured her to these mountains for the purpose of raping and murdering her, so she's running for her life.
At this point I know you'll all be simply shocked! to learn that not only does Teagan use her amazing powers to heal Andre's wounds - but in an amazing coincidence she's also the pre-ordained lifemate he's been searching for his whole life. Battles with vampires and creepy rapists ensue (no extra points for guessing the winning side).
Throw in some very steamy sex scenes, an interlude of turning into owls and flying around (yep...) and the introduction of a few other random Carpathian men (who will just happen to have their own stories told in later books) and you've got the whole thing.
I love the escapism of these books. Truly the junk food of reading, but a nice break after reading some heavy books lately.
