Hi Dia :)I just managed to start this last night before bed. I only read the first chapter so far, but the writing style seems so interesting to me. And, I noticed that even though I was so sleepy, the words just flew by without any great effort. Very promising, let's see...
I'm glad the writing style is interesting for you! I'm currently at Ch 3, and for me I had the opposite experience. The way Ch 1 started was definitely a shock factor, but then I thought Ch 2 was very tell and not show, so it was a bit boring. But I think things are starting to pick up again.
I like the change of narrator in Ch 5 and learning more about Altagracia's past. Given that she has a gift with the supernatural, I wonder if she'll simply be a spectator or play another role in the story. Ch 6, wow I wasn't exactly expecting this level of graphic violence.
Oh gosh, I just finished Chapter 6 and oh wow! I had to skim over this gruesome scene, bleh!I like the way the writing flows seamlessly and that we had Altagracia‘s POV in Ch 5. I also like the brotherhood the boys have established.
But I pretty much like nothing else in this book so far 😱 it’s so so dark, and even the supernatural elements, I have no idea if they’re gonna play any role or if they’re just there as cultural elements, so I can’t yet categorize this in my brain.
If we weren’t BRing this I would maybe even be inclined to DNF it? 🫣
Just finished Ch 9 and oh gosh, it’s getting darker and darker 😱

I knooow, it’s so hard for me to dnf with finality anyway 😂 the thing is that the writing helps me read it somewhat quickly, so let’s see! I hope it doesn’t get too dark… I’m a wimp 🫣😅
Finished Ch 14 and okay, now I’m sure Bimbo is on a suicide mission!
Caught up and finished chapter 21. Some parts of the story give me the chills. And I still have no idea where the story is going. I know something dark is coming for sure, and with lots of supernatural elements, too.I’m grateful for the short chapters, too!
Ch 8/9- umm so I was not expecting Xavier to be killed omg he had the most hope out of everyone. The way he was killed too, like you said, it's dark. And Bimbo is getting out of hand. Like this won't just end here. Ch 13 - I'm curious to know how they know where they live. It means someone saw them.
Ch 15/16 - damn Bimbo is definitely out of it. Like wth. And desecrating a dead body like that.
Just finished 17. I'm also glad the chapters are short hahha. I really was not expecting this much violence! I thought it was going to have more ghosts/spirits.
Just finished chapter 24 and I’m glad we got Natalia‘s POV, too, although I have no idea where we’re being taken plot-wise. These were definitely quiet and easier chapters and I’m happy with the small break from violence, haha.I wasn’t expecting Xander to die too!! Especially that quickly after they killed the first guy! Poor Xander!
And I don’t think the other two friends are going to be okay after the hurricane…
I'm up to Ch 26 now. I'm really curious about the white car Gabe keeps seeing. and yes I enjoy the other POVs! Really a break from this path of destruction Bimbo and Gabe are on.
Also in Ch 25, which you will read next, Tamara's story is also quite scary, I think the women POVs add that supernatural aspect because Natalie was also talking about the stories that her grandmother told about babies born during a hurricane.
It has taken me awhile to make progress in this, but I just finished Ch 30 and I’m intrigued by all the new POVs added here and there. They certainly add a sense of breathing fresh air, even though they make me question how some of these characters will be involved in the story… keeps being way darker than I imagined, haha. And, I’m also pretty certain about the supernatural element, too!
Just finished Ch 35 and I’m still skimming over the violent scenes. But I’m intrigued to know how all this mess will be wrapped up. Because these boys… they’re buried knee deep in a huge mess!
