Ellen | 3510 comments Enola Holmes, the teenaged perditorian (finder of lost people and things), has placed herself in the middle of a case her older brother Sherlock is investigating. This is only due to the fact that the client, Rudyard Kipling, refused to hire a female to work for him. Kipling's best friend Wolcott Balestier has disappeared off the streets of London and Enola will not let a little thing like not being officially on the job stop her. She learns that Balestier had been seen by a number of people and that he was attacked by a seemingly rabid dog that had been roaming the area. Fearing that the man's days are numbered Enola learns everything she can about rabies including a visit with Dr. Joseph Lister who is currently working on a treatment. It seems the entire case rests in the hands of book pirates as Balestier, an American publisher, had come to England to take on British authors as clients. Someone wishes to stop him at all costs which includes the terrifying kidnapping of Enola herself.

This was another good entry to the Enola Holmes series and they are particularly well done on audio.
