Two Envelopes And A Phone | 4 comments I love many Stephen King novels. My top 5 are not the ones people normally pick, but I always seem to be the trouble-maker in the bunch, that way: The Tommyknockers, Dolores Claiborne, The Stand, The Long Walk, Duma Key. I have not yet read Pet Sematary, which I know is a big favourite for many people. The first Stephen King novel I read was The Stand - I was about 12 years old. It was unlike anything I had read up till then.

My favourite Horror author is actually Ramsey Campbell. He is a very divisive writer, and not for everyone. My first by him was The Hungry Moon - a great book, but not enough to just instantly make him a favourite. About five books in, I was pretty committed to reading as much as I could get my hands on. My favourite by Ramsey Campbell is Nazareth Hill (aka The House on Nazareth Hill) - this is actually my favourite Horror novel - but there are many I love: The Count of Eleven, Incarnate, Obsession, The Face That Must Die, The Doll Who Ate His Mother, The Parasite, and on and on. He’s still going - and, for me, the most recent novels are still appealing; I gave The Lonely Lands 5 stars. You will not love this writer the way I do, odds are.

Em (eml3223) | 2 comments The Dark Between the Trees by Fiona Barnett is a fantastically well written folk horror that I can't recommend enough. It's extremely clever and the prose structure is impressive. It's her first fictional/horror novel, and it came out in the UK, so a lot of people missed it. But I assure you, it's well worth a read. I devoured it in a day.

If anyone out there hasn't read T Kingfisher's Hollow Places, A House with Good Bones, and The Twisted Ones--all 3 are utterly unforgettable. I still think about all of them--I found The Twisted Ones most terrifying--slept with the lights on for a week after reading. They are all brilliant though. And all three also have a sort of witty humor that is so clever--so they are more than just great scares. She's gotten so much attention lately for her non-horror fantasy books, so you are probably familiar with her work, but if not, yes most definitely read this woman's books immediately. I automatically preorder everything she writes now.

i have to read pet sematary ! has anyone watched the movie or read the book?

Emily ☾⋆୨ৎ (emispaghetti) I feel like this is pretty widely talked about but I just read The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones and I really really liked it!! I am personally picky about horror as I tend to be turned off of stories which are too gratuitous in gore or sexual content- TOGI was perfectly balanced and a very well crafted freaky tale 🦌 I am hoping to check out SGJ’s Indian Lake Trilogy soon as well so if anyone has read that I’d love to hear your thoughts
