CJ | 620 comments So far I'm enjoying this quite a lot. This is pretty much the kind of sharp SF writing I had expected from Tchaikovsky from what I had heard from reviewers and fans. I'm reading the ebook along with the audiobook and I'm not sure why the narrator chose a theatrical Cockney accent for the Vulture God's captain though. Seems a bit much.

CBRetriever | 6270 comments I'm loving the crew of the Vulture God (can't imagine listening to it), the Hugh agent

Richard (fantasyfangr) | 3 comments I have just started the book and the opening chapters are excellent. I especially find the vivid dystopian future effectively developed.(so far). The Audible narrator is quite effective too. However, I expect that Tchaikovsky will throw in some plot twists and surprises as he does in many of his, other novels.

Richard (fantasyfangr) | 3 comments I find the opening chapters very interesting—especially the apparently dystopian world, with its “architects” in the “prologue”. I enjoy the work of the Audible narrator. I think she has done other Tchaikovsky books.

Cheryl L | 415 comments I'm about 75 pages in and am finding the different types of humans and the truly alien aliens intriguing. This seems like it will be an easy, if not quick, read.

I am just starting the third book in the trilogy so clearly I liked this one. I seem to like just about everything Tchaikovsky writes so take my praise with a grain of salt

Kaia | 739 comments This one grabbed me right away. I am a few chapters in and really enjoying it so far. Interesting story and characters, good writing, and enough left to discover that I keep wanting to read more.

I liked this series better than Children of Time

Cool! I also liked CoT but somehow never got the time to read the sequels.

Paul Freeman | 64 comments I'm about 10% in and enjoying this space opera setting and the drama so far. This is my first Tchaikovsky so will be interesting to see what I make of it overall.

Listening on Audible and the narrator is the wonderful Sophie Aldred - ACE! which adds an extra special layer for me
