A few factors detracted from my full enjoyment of this novel and I do believe they are most possibly my own fault. Firstly, with that title, I first thought ooh steampunk of some sort but truly, my brain has gone haywire and read 'clockwork' instead of just 'clock'. The title did make some kind of sense at the end, I suppose.

The second which I struggled with during the listening is that there were flashbacks to the past but they happened without any sort of warning. I guess if you were reading in print, they could have been printed in a different font or something to indicate different time setting. While the flashbacks make sense structure wise, I just wish I knew ahead of time that the next bit is a flashback.

Lastly, it's a rather unsatisfying ending for a thriller... I couldn't believe it when the audiobook just ended and thought I must have skipped a track by accident. Bah!

As an end note, it was actually quite a clever twisty psychological thriller.
