As we do not have any suggestions for books from Slovakia to be discussed during the months of September and October, this thread could be used to recommend / discuss ANY books by European writers instead :-)
Happy reading!

Jen R. (rosetung) | 64 comments I started my first by Anton Chekhov. I am reading The Seagull. I am reading this version I linked via a library app as well as one available at OpenLibrary.org, to compare translations. So far, I like the OpenLibrary one better. It's just a bit clearer for me, the tones of voice and such, but I like that the version I linked gave some history behind the piece in the beginning of the book and gives notes in the back to help with some of the references in the text. It also apparently includes omitted lines apparently not typically included in any publications.

Translations are really interesting in themselves and no doubt you seem to have picked an interesting one for this title.
As I am also planning on joining the discussion over in the (German speaking) group, I have also started re-reading this play and would be interested in your opinion on the omitted lines!
