Yes, it is nominated in the Kids/YA category.
& I put your information in - & guess what.
The new bots struck again. The book was on Goodreads but as unknown author

I'll leave this for a bit before fixing up.
The bot entries have driven a lot of Goodreads librarians off - or they only work on their own stuff now. Sad what is happening to this site.

I use WorldCat to search rather than our Te Puna (National Library). We stopped putting bib data into TP a couple of years before I retired. It was decided that all libraries world wide would have just the one global catalogue rather than adding data to their own National LIbrary database, then those NatLibs uploading into WorldCat. The idea, besides reducing costs, was to overcome the delays in each country loading to WC, and reduce duplication. The first two reasons work, but duplication is still rife! Bit like the bots here. :(

That is interesting to know.
I actually think the duplication on World cat is worse now, but it is a still good resource for page counts which is mainly what I do in the Librarian's Group.

Hi Carol - The most excellent Caged by Susan Brocker was already a finalist for the 2024 Ngaio Marsh Awards. There might not be too many other 2024 award cycles still open to a 2023 book now unfortunately.
cheers, Melinda

Yes I know - in the Kids/Ya category. :)
I don't know so much about the criteria for awards these days as I do very few. But having a definite time frame is often a sign of a good quality award.

Which is a shame, given the high quality of many NZ children's books.
I do wish Gr would give the awards section a really good overhaul. Unfortunately they are only interested in the Goodreads Choice Awards. (& a tepid interest in some of the top SF awards)
But the present moderator has put some guidelines in the Manual we follow which has been a big help.

They have to have been published in the States too - which is why Bernard Cornwell books used to receive nominations a year or two after the books were originally published in the UK.
& for at least the last two years readers can no longer nominate books - which imo makes them no longer Reader's Choice!
But there was a lot of work involved, but I'm sad that Chldrens & Middle School are now combined & some of the smaller categories have disappeared.

I used to enter a lot of awards on Goodreads - but I soon found why most librarians don't want to do them. The format is tricky, other librarians & staff made so many mistakes & above all, the explosion of poor quality awards that are all about making money for the organisers.
But I still am happy to do three of the NZ awards & one of those is the Ngaio Marsh Awards.
So here is the thing.
Caged by Susan Brocker doesn't appear to be on Goodread's notoriously wayward database. I can't enter it because the author & publisher websites don't give the ISBN (would be very unusual for a modern NZ book not to have an ISBN) No luck with Amazon, my local library or the National library.
So if anyone knows the author or has a copy of the book let me know. (If I have missed seeing the ISBN on Scholastic, let me know!)
Getting nominated for this award is a big deal & I look on this as a very small thing I can do for our wonderful kiwi authors
