General question about duplicates in Lists

I've noticed that sometimes a book will appear in a list multiple times -- I presume that this is because people have voted on different editions (hardback, ebook, etc). Even though those editions appear on the same book page, they must count as different titles in Listopia. If a correction is made to merge the votes, is this done at the list level, or at the book title level? That is, if a book has this issue on multiple lists, does every list have to have the votes merged, or does fixing it for the book automatically fix it across all of Listopia?

For example, this problem happens in several lists for Beneath the Scarlet Frost. Would combining the votes for the different editions of that book in one list fix it for all of the other lists, too? Or, would someone have to combine the votes for each list independently?

The 'check for duplicates' button is for each list separately and it checks all books on that list.

I think there could be lists where duplicates are not a mistake, like multiple covers for a book that each qualify for the aim of the list.
