Ok, so one thing I love about these books is that Taylor actually assumes you know stuff and doesn't waste time explaining every little thing. He can mention Skynet or Roanoke and move on, without needing to explain what those are. It makes sense in the context of the story, because Bob knows, and therefore the other Bobs know, and explaining would make no sense, but it's a breath of fresh air for the reader too! We're not being treated like idiots who have lived under a rock all their lives. Huzzah!
Seriously, every single time someone refers to Roanoke in a book or movie or whatever, every character is clueless about what it refers to and it needs over-explaining. I'm so tired of it! let's put that one in the 'common knowledge bucket' and move on already! 😆
I am so tempted to ask you what Roanoke is.But, I sort of like being alive.
I am not very far in ye, as it of course has turned out to be a heavy customer day and I keep having to stop the audio. Do these people not know the importance of a new Bob book?
I love jumping back into this world though. It feels like a very dysfunctional home. Or over-functional maybe.
And moments after I typed that message, I got to the "It looks like the Roanoke colony" dialogue.Too funny. Clearly the weird wormhole is going to play a part...

"It's Bob day. Come in, sit down and be quiet. I'll get to you when there's a boring bit in the book (be prepared to wait until the end)."
Thoth. AI claiming that it can solve many of life's mysteries. I don't trust it. Do you? Are you much further into it and you know if it should be trusted?
Unfortunately not, as hubby got home from working away and demanded attention. On Bob day!! he should know better... I introduced him to Bob, so he should understand!
What the hell?I'm even wearing my "Ew. People." t-shirt today, and they still bother me. And you, clearly.
Really. Get a clue people. You don't nag us on Bob day!And as for the book, I'm with the Bobs first reaction to giving Thoth any foothold outside the VR scenatio:
OH HELL NO!
I gave up listening at work just a bit after what you posted. So I would say yes, the AI thing is going to become a thing in the story. If I get a chance, I will listen to some more this evening, but I may have to wait until tomorrow.
Drannies... 😂I'm about halfway and loving this book! I had some technical issues where the audio kept pausing every few seconds, and it turns out my phone is on the fritz. A new one should be arriving today, and in the meantime I've dug out a tablet and have synched my headphones to that. perfect sound, though a PITA to carry around!
Poor hubby and son are impatient to start listening themselves (they listen at default speed, which drives me nuts, and would take all week to finish one book, so they'll have to wait until I'm done.
Which should be around 2 hours from now 😂
I suspect there will also be increased issues with the Faith group, as well as Thoth. I feel there is a serious underappeciation for Bobs in the Bobiverse!
Robot "Bob" in the closet! I just had to highlight that. We all should have one in storage, just in case. I think you are correct about your predictions. As soon as I get some coffee in me I will start listening again. I really want to k now about the weird black hole civilization that has vanished.
I've just finished. some of the questions are answered (although you may come to wish they hadn't, lol), but it's looking like we'll definitely be getting more Bob.Huzzah!
The biggest question on my mind right this minute though... How the heck is this one gonna fit in TW? 😆
I wasn't listening out for engineers, but surely there has to be one?ETA: No, I remember. There was a bit where someone said they over-engineered something. Could you try to keep an ear out for it?
See. This is where AI would come in handy. Just ask your friendly neighborhood intrusive controlling computer overlord to check the audio text for a certain word. I'm really ok to have to listen to it twice instead though. Skynet can happen after I am dead.

I will.

Yeah. every time I go away and leave my menfolk alone for more than a few hours I have to ask them to keep skynet in the box. Between the two of them, they could totally make it happen and I'm in no way fit enough to be running from machines right now! 😆
Done!!!I bloody love the Bobiverse, and yes, it does seem like it is set up for more. Mr. Taylor is a gentleman and a scholar.
