Live Beta Reading

As the title says, I offer LIVE reading services.

What does that mean? Well when you send me a manuscript in whatever format, I convert it into a live google doc in which you can see my inline comments as I write them. You will be able to see how far I am in your book, how much, I read per day, and get my first thoughts as I have them. Once the first read is complete I reread certain chapters/sections that require extra review and then submit a multi-page reader report that covers narrative elements, structure, and pacing.

I work pretty fast and usually have a 10 day turn around for stories up to 90k words, I may ask for longer for longer works.

I currently have a limit of 3 orders at a time to allow me to focus on your story so if the gig says unavailable check back in a few days, as they can fill up at times.

I generally charge 1 dollar US. per 1000 words. So a 45k word story look for about 45 dollars.

Who am I? Well I am an English teacher by trade and and avid reader by hobby. I have degrees in History, Russian literature, and a Masters in Education. I am a former Army Veteran so you can count on me to get the mission done!

Do you have a preferred genre? Mine is a historical fiction with elements of Romanian folklore/gothic horror & you seem like you’d be a perfect fit having a history degree. So I just thought I’d check. Thank you!

I cover all genres except erotic, I do tend to prefer historical fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi. My degree was focused on Eastern Europe and the Slavic world. So Romania would be a near fit!

Wonderful! I have a pretty extensive bibliography but to have another historian’s eyes on it would be really helpful, though I do bend history for the sake of the story (for example I refer to the country of Romania as “Romania” despite my book taking place in the tail end of the 15th century and that time it was three divided principalities) so hopefully that won’t annoy you too much. I’m just waiting on my 4th free beta reader to finish, then I have some cleaning up to do. Once that’s done, I will definitely reach out to you for round two of my beta reading needs.
