This is the discussion thread for our September group read, Code Name Hélène.

Please be sure to mark any spoilers.

Liza | 68 comments This is the third book I’ve read by this author (I Was Anastasia and The Frozen River which was also fantastic). One thing I really like about her writing is her depth of research, and how she can breathe life into women who maybe would be lost to history otherwise. I would be interested to read the biography of Nancy Wake but still really felt like I got to know her through this book.

I read this when it first came out and really liked it. I thought she captured Nancy Wake really well. Similar to you Liza, I've read those three books by this author and feel she has really grown as an author and she chooses really captivating women to write about. I also found it so fascinating that for all Nancy Wake did, I had never heard of her before reading this book.

Margaret Crampton (cramptonmargaret) | 8159 comments I am really enjoying this book and it complements the non fiction book Nancy Wake

Charlene (charlenev) | 65 comments Just finished this and loved it! How have I never heard of this woman? I've likely answered my own question...she was a woman. Fascinating story. I missed August's non-fiction read, but I think I will go back now and read it. I'm intrigued!

Maureen (maursbooks) | 588 comments I just finished this book. It is a compelling story of a very brave women. Very well written.

Jessica VanLanduyt | 10 comments I enjoyed this book! All while reading it, I was amazed about how brave Nancy was and thinking, "there is no way I could have done anything that she did". I am blown away by all the brave people who acted during that scary and horrific time.

Diane (3browcat) | 15 comments Once again, a great recommendation from this group! I think Ariel Lawhon's book was even more meaningful to me after reading Nancy Wake's biography by Russell Braddon. Also - for any audio book fans, I loved Henri's narrator (Peter Ganim, I think) for this listen.

Panda | 23 comments I finally am starting in on this book as there was a long wait at my library. I have previously read The Frozen River, by the same author and loved it. I also see that those of you who checked in all seemed to enjoy the read, so fingers crossed that this is a good one for me too!

Panda | 23 comments I finished and it was a very good read. I ended up picking up another book by the author that had been on my tbr shelf.

Happy Reading!

Suzanne | 21 comments I read this one a while ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading the biography Nancy Wake and Nancy Wake to compare.
