And I agree. A little N S goes a long way. (I've read four of his books in the last 15 years. One every 3 or 4 years. I could probably read one this month.)

I get it though I was also like who speaks like this! But it was a romance so I kinda let it go

I haven't watched the movie and this book has been languishing on my TBR for many many years. Mostly because I just think it'll be too sad too hard to read. So, it was with no small trepidation I picked this up on audio. I figure it's time to read or unhaul.
The novel opens with an old man reading aloud from his notebook to an old woman in a bed. While that somewhat sets the scene, it didn't really get sad right out from the beginning. The majority of the novel felt very much like reminiscing; a very poignant reminiscent. Until the last hour of the novel where my heart just cracked. This author definitely knows how to pull at heart strings. All the romantic phrases and that steadfast belief in true love impressed me.
Still... I won't be in any hurry to read any other works from him.
