Ox W | 165 comments Hello there!

I’m posting to see if anyone might be interested in potentially being writing buddies. Swapping writing is a big part of this of course, but I also really love to chat, brainstorm, and stay motivated through other stages of the writing process. Hopefully if we click, it would be fun to work together through multiple projects, share stuff when we’re ready, bounce ideas back and forth, that sort of thing.

I’d be happy to meet you whether or not you have a complete draft you’re looking to share. I would just love more writer friends in my life to talk about writing (and reading) and all sorts of stories) with!

Here’s a bit about me: Writing is a big part of my life, but I also just love to have fun with it and approach writing and swapping with a big sense of humor. I would love to hear about your characters and plots and worlds and everything, help you work on bringing your ideas to life. I write mostly fantasy and historical fiction, lately I’ve been getting into romance. More specific, I love in fantasy magical realism, gothic vibes, contemporary, paranormal/ghost antics. My fantasy writing is mostly set in mid1800s-early1900s inspired words, with a lot of body-centered magic. In historical fiction, most of my writing is mid1900s Europe, decades leading up to and after WWII.

I tend to start several WIPs at once which is both a blessing and a curse - right now I’m working on a fantasy with dark academia vibes about a vampire who summons a ghost to try and help him get revenge on the person who he thinks is responsible for the death of this friend, only to get more than he bargained for. I’m also working on a historical fiction about a Polish-Jewish fencer in the late 1930s, it’s mostly a story about a dysfunctional family trying to figure things out.

FIY a lot of my characters and romantic plots are queer.

Some of my favorite books/shows are: Avatar the Last Airbender, Six of Crows, the Book Thief, The Picture of Dorian Grey, the Fault in Our Stars, The Watchmaker of Filigree Street, A Constellation of Vital Phenomenon, the Last True Poets of the Sea, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Babylon Berlin, Gideon the Ninth, If We Were Villains, and there’s surely something I’m forgetting in here.

I would love to hear from you if you’d like to get to know each other!

Sohail Rauf | 2 comments Hi Oksana,
I think a writing buddy is a good idea, one that I have always had in mind but owing to various reasons I never had such a buddy. I am not interested in fantasy but I take a fancy to historical fiction and might go on to write one. I have one published novel (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...) and I am working on my second.
If you think I am a good fit, please email me: author@sohailrauf.com.
Hope this works for both of us.
