Hi, Glenda and Marc,

I set my phone to mute and read from late morning until late afternoon.

I shan't divulge any spoilers but this book is even better than the first, which is good news for Kimber. And I say this without a shred of bias.

I'm up to Chapter Thirty-Two.
The writing is richer, the characters are even better developed than in the first book and I found it a thoroughly enjoyable read so far

I love to hate a baddie in books, so there is one annoying, smarmy creature who ticks that box nicely (Trenton Crawley.)
Some of the imagery is very nicely done (the characters pop out of the pages) and one bit (a moment at the wrong time) made me laugh out loud!

So those are my thoughts, without giving too much away.

Happy reading! 🤗🤗

Glenda (glenda-r) | 3 comments Thanks for the thoughts, Kevin. I will begin this book this afternoon. I generally read all day and into the evening.

Just for a point of reference, it is Sunday, September 1, at 9:00 a.m., in Phoenix.

Regards, Glenda

I know I'm way ahead, in respect of time zones, but I promise I won't divulge any spoilers.

You're going to enjoy this, Glenda! 😊

Marc (marcintheoc) | 3 comments Hi Kevin and Glenda,

I started this today and made it to chapter 6. I have a couple of library books I have to finish before their due date this week, and I'm hoping to focus on "Bullets In The Briar" midweek or so. But I must say that even though I have just started reading it I am liking it very much!

Marc

There is no hurry, Marc.

I'm just pleased that Kimber has created a book that I can cheer for. It would be deeply embarrassing if it was awful!

And I'm further pleased that you've enjoyed the bits you have read.

'Bullets in the Briar' will still be waiting for you after you've enjoyed the two library books!

Happy reading, my friend!

Best regards,
Kevin

Glenda (glenda-r) | 3 comments Hi Marc and Kevin, I read “Bullets in the Briar” for a good while on Sunday. I’m up to Chapter 15 and am enjoying Kimber’s second book set in Harlow Kansas very much.

The character development of both familiar characters and the ones being introduced is very descriptive which makes me able to really become invested in the book. In addition, I know nothing of Kansas. Kimber’s description of the landscape and areas is very vivid. I actually see a lot of Arizona there what with the desert and cactus

I have a couple of books checked out with an impending due date. I will need another week to really concentrate on “Bullets”. However, I will read a few chapters until then.

I think that Kimber did a great deal of research for this book. She just keeps getting better and I hope she will continue to write.

Regards to you both, Glenda

Hi Glenda,
Wonderful to hear that you're loving Kimber's latest.
As I said to Marc, there's no hurry. Read at your own pace and when time allows.

I finished it yesterday and need a couple of days to gather my thoughts (and notes) before writing a review.

I enjoyed the first half more than the second but overall this was a very enjoyable read!

Well done, Kimber, I say!

Happy reading!
Warm regards,
Kevin

I'm so happy to read your thoughts on the book so far! I get the sense that the characters and the town of Harlow will be greatly developed in this novel. I'm looking forward to it!

Wishing you both the best,

Hi Marc and Glenda,

Once again, I felt transported to Kansas. Through Kimber's writing, you get a real sense of Kansas and its people.
Earthy characters keep popping up like nettles in a forest!

The romantic stuff was a little too gooey and lovey-dovey for my liking but it was an entertaining read overall! : )

Happy reading to you both!
Warm regards,
Kevin

Glenda (glenda-r) | 3 comments Hi Marc and Kevin, I finished reading Bullets last night. I liked this book a lot and overall, I can see Kimber growing as a writer. the characters are well developed, a must in my opinion, the vernacular, while inconsistent occasionally was authentic.

I will discuss in more detail when Marc completes the book. I will say however that I agree with Kevin about the cloyingly sweet affection. They are both a little old for that.

Regards, Glenda

Your thoughts match mine, Glenda.
I look forward to seeing what Marc thinks.

Warm regards to you both!

Marc (marcintheoc) | 3 comments Hi Kevin and Glenda! I finished the book this evening and really loved it! I have been a bit overwhelmed with work lately, but I did write a quick review. Hopefully, I can write a more detailed review soon when I get a chance. Hope all is well with you both! :)
