This is a story about a man that lives for centuries. The format is to jump between centuries with life circumstances appropriate for each. One of the cautions presented to him by his mentor is to avoid loving anyone given their ultimate ageing while he doesn't and the another was to constantly be moving and modifying your name to avoid detection. He does ultimately fall in love in his first century and has a child. The book surrounds the search for Marion, his daughter and remembrances of his love for Rose, his wife.
I found this book, while well written, a boring tale. It was repetitive with few sections providing intriguing or thought provoking scenarios. I know that many found this book engaging. Unfortunately I did not. I gave it 3*'s for the quality of writing alone.
