I started yesterday.
I think the narrative has much more than I had expected, so we the reader are going on this journey with her. Also, I had thought that it took place over a longer period of time and was surprised that it is really only in the last stages of the war, though that leads to some real ups and downs for her.

I have finished the first part, and it makes for difficult reading at times. Even on armistice day, she still doesn't know what has happened to Andre, and can't quite celebrate. You can feel the rage within her at times.
Yes, I didn't realize this was just during the last stages of the war. So much uncertainty - not knowing where her husband was, and having to move around all the time to remain in hiding. I can't imagine!


If I am correct, we are reading this month The Carlyles at Home by Thea Holme.
