Death Valley by Melissa Broder is likely the first and last book by this author that I will read. I am not a fan of the writing style or of the way it goes back and forth.
I also found myself feeling a little dumb at some parts because I couldn’t completely understand what was happening.
The first couple milestones were rocky and not as easy going as I had hoped. It started getting good in the middle of the book and then the ending was …. meh.
If I were to rate this, I’d give it 2 stars. And that’s only because I thought her father died and was coming to save her in the desert. If I hadn’t gotten emotional at all throughout this book, I’d probably give it a 1 star review.
I had heard a lot of good things about this book, but I guess since it just isn’t my style or the typical book I’d pick up, I didn’t feel excited to continue reading it.
I might’ve even put it down halfway through if I hadn’t chosen this book for the book club (of 1…me).
Keep an eye out for September’s book choice in a few days! Don’t forget to vote 🙂
