Work has calmed down considerably, but my mom isn't doing very well. We're managing.

Thanks for checking on me.

The Lunatics

The lunatics were three psychos who escaped from a mental hospital when a circus was in town. They murdered three clowns and took their costumes as their own. All three clowns are deranged with violent tendencies. Each has their own distinct look and behavior but all are equally menacing acting in almost near silence.
Cheezo: The leader of the trio. He has an eerie calm about him.
Bippo: The most aggressive, known for erratic and unpredictable behavior.
Dippo: The quietest of the three and most malevolent.

You have been assigned to capture Cheezo

Truitt_T | 1371 comments On to our next clown!

Kari, you had a banked H book, which I've already added to the SS. I've got books that will work for all the letters except Z - I'll look for one.

Teresa - do you have anything coming up that will work?

ETA: I've found a Z book. I'm tired of the books I'm reading for TW, so this will be a nice change!

We don't have that many Zs banked, Donna, lol. It'll be at least tomorrow morning.....

Besides, it's nice to have a few easy ones in the mix - some of your tasks are downright mean! No wonder you were cackling maniacally...

I have a C ( at 35% of 274pgs) and O (2.5 hrs left) that I'm currently reading and should be done today, tomorrow at the latest.

I started getting sick Tuesday and tested for Covid yesterday... guess what? it was positive 😖 so, I have some more time for reading if it doesn't get much worse, but if it does I'll have less 😆
Feel free to bump the C as it'll be the last done.

Teresa, I hope it passes quickly and you feel better soon!!

I'll find an E book. The one I just finished doesn't work so I banked it.

Easy? I am doing something wrong. This is supposed to be challenging, Tru. Besides, how am I supposed to live up to the lovely images that you people paint of me? Cackling maniacally...really? One of my competitive teams didn't think that task was so easy without banking books. They didn't even try for the bonus points. They just ignored it and did buddy reads instead. Silly people.

Horny

Archie Benjamin played Horny the Clown at his family's restaurant. This caused him to get picked on a lot by his peers. On his birthday, they played a prank which caused the restaurant to catch on fire resulting in his death. Four years later, Archie comes back from the dead to get his revenge. He is a demonic version of Horny the Clown.

Complete the following tasks
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books with fire on the cover
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books that are book 4 in any series
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books that start with a letter in HORNY (the team must choose one letter)
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books with the author's initials in ARCHIE

message 318: by Kari (new)

Kari | 914 comments I added some potential book options.
Any preferences for Leg 1?

Kari | 914 comments Teresa wrote: "I have several books that work for O or R that I’m wanting to read"

Teresa, how are you feeling?

I'm ok with O or R.
You also have an H in your banked books in case you want to use it.

message 321: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Hah, I missed Harbor in the list 🤦🏻‍♀️

If you guys have something for H, then that would work best for me right now.

I developed a massive headache to go with my sniffles and cough, which sucks. I got my KCR books done yesterday, but am having trouble focusing today so it’ll be a bit before I get to any new books.

Thanks for asking 😊

Hang in there and get a lot of rest, covid is awful :(.
I'm good with H. I don't have any banked books left except one, so it'll be a bit until I finish too.

message 323: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments I’m not picky about the letter - anything is fine.

Feel better soon, Teresa!

message 324: by Kari (new)

Kari | 914 comments I found a book for fire and for book 4 in series, and am almost done with Archie.
I don't have anything for H yet, if anyone has an extra that would be wonderful, if not I'll find one when I finish with the others 😀

message 325: by Kari (new)

Kari | 914 comments I finished Hellfire & Bowties by A.M. Rose for fire, it was fun, in case you guys need fire on the cover in the future.
I also found a book for H.

I'll be done my last book tomorrow.

That really does look cute, Kari! I added it to my TBR, too.

Teresa - I hope you're feeling better. Don't push yourself to read if you don't feel like it - we're in no hurry.

Still not great, but much better than I was Friday and Saturday. Still tired and headachy, but the cough and congestion is almost gone.

How is your mom doing?

The Laugh

"The Laugh" was a disturbed child with a twisted sense of humor and a fixation on causing pain to others. As an adult, he evolved into a deranged serial killer who stalked and captured his former classmates. He uses elaborate, themed traps and mind games to capture and torment 3 women from his past. He wants to relive the amusement he had as a child when terrified others. He thrives on fear and cruelty. His intelligence is shown through his carefully planned torture and traps. He often wears a mask or different disguises. His most iconic look is his exaggerated smile and wide eyes accompanying his maniacal laughter. He truly is a chilling clown.

Complete the following tasks
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books with all the letters of LAUGH in the title
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books tagged humor
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books that are #3 in any series
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books with a mask on the cover

I don't know about that!!! Being able to bank books definitely helped though. Without that we'd be way farther behind as I took on too many challenges at once that had conflicting needs.

Better today, but still not great. I think we're in a holding pattern for a bit, if you know what I mean. Thanks for checking!

And I'm glad to hear you've largely moved on from the cough. In some ways, I think that's the most difficult to deal with.

message 335: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Donna wrote: "I feel like I made this challenge a bit too easy for you folks..."

Nope. No, Unh-uh. There have been plenty of books we've had to scramble for, even though we're banking.

Since we're playing for our own amusement, banking has been great - and we're not worried about page length, or speed, or anything competitive, thank goodness. With other challenges, I'm so glad we went into this to play, not to win.

I think you've done a nice job of balancing the difficulty for this one, Donna.
