Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Alright! I've checked in and requested next on the list: Killjoy!

I don't think I've heard of this clown before....

message 105: by Kari (new)

Kari | 914 comments Yeay! I haven't heard of him either. His name is super creepy..

Killjoy

Killjoy is a clown-like demon that is the end result of black magic on behalf of tragic individuals who sought love and closure but instead became victims of violence and injustice before being reborn by Killjoy's magic. In the end, after the deaths of their rivals and tormentors, these people who summoned him paid a terrible price by losing their souls to Killjoy. Thus, Killjoy was born and began to murder everyone he came across, prone to driving an ice cream truck.

To capture Killjoy you will need to summon him BEFORE you chain him up. Spell out RIVAL. Then complete the chains below
R
I
V
A
L

Complete the following tasks Must complete spellout above 1st
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books with dessert on the cover
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books with demons
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books tagged revenge
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books that start with a letter in ICE CREAM TRUCK

I'm teasing you guys. I must have deleted it by accident when I created NC SS. I thought you guys still had the column and I just realized you didn't.

I see where you've started to add the drop down column - I swear that wasn't there right from the beginning. That's why we put it in the Justification column.

ETA: Thank you for your spreadsheet skills!!!

Hey, you were lucky I was able to any of this sanely. I have been in pain for weeks. I broke a tooth and had to have it pulled on Thursday. They decided to send me home with no drugs. My face hurts still. My old dentist in Leechburg gave me Vicodin. These people just sent me home with nothing. Take some ibuprofen if it hurts. Yeah, that ain't cutting it.

message 117: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Oh, Donna!! That sucks. Tooth pain is the worst. I hope it abates soon!!

Oh Donna - I am so sorry to hear that! Doctors and dentists seem more and more reluctant to provide pain medication, even when it is so obviously needed. Our medical system is definitely out of whack.

The Revenge one is tricky...

message 122: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Here's a list:

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

There's only 3 book, but they are all tagged revenge!

message 123: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Ha! I was just coming over to say that I waded through the first 20 pages of books tagged Revenge and that I found Hostile Takeover and Infamous Park Avenue Prince.

I also found several books that will work fot TW, so I can read two if anyone wants to pass on Revenge.

message 124: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments I'm going to listen to Prince of Agony its a reread but qualifies as of Sept 4 :D

message 125: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments ANd I'll tell you - finding something for dessert that also works for TW is tough!

message 126: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Try adding MM to the task... I might just branch out. Vanilla Bean Vampire looks cute; 197 pgs and it is on the Top 5 list and only 0.99 USD - but I'm going see if I even get to this task before the end of the round.

Hmmmm....I can get the audio for that one via hoopla - although the author is also the narrator.....

I'd been thinking fof just going with A Christmas Wedding by Ali Ryecart - I asked, and wedding cakes count.

message 128: by Kari (new)

Kari | 914 comments I think I can find books for all of them, will update as I go :)

message 129: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments And here I thought I'd finish before Tru this once LOL

I've Checked us in!!

message 130: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Tru, what did you think of Vanilla Bean Vampire? I waffled on buying it as our library didn't have it, and went a different direction.

message 131: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Teresa wrote: "Tru, what did you think of Vanilla Bean Vampire? I waffled on buying it as our library didn't have it, and went a different direction."

It really wasn't for me. I didn't like the MC much and while there were aspects of the magic system that were interesting, I found the world building lacking. There were also things that just didn't make sense - I wasn't impressed.

I spent the $.99 US for the Kindle book because I could get the audio free from hoopla. The author was the narrator - she wasn't bad, exactly, but there wasn't much differentiation between character voices.

Skip it, unless in case of urgent need!

Kent McCoy

Kent McCoy is a loving father who when hosting a birthday party for his son finds an old clown costume in the basement of a house he is selling and puts it on when the hired clown can't make it. He's then unable to take the costume off and soon starts changing, upon contacting the previous owner of the costume he learns it is the hair and skin of an ancient Icelandic demon called the "Clöyne" and that dismemberment is the only way to prevent the possession. Once possession has occurred the only way to release the host is to eat 5 children.

Complete the following tasks
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books set in Iceland
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books with a 5 in the publication date
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books tagged family
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books with a house on the cover

Yikes Tru! I'm sorry it wasn't a good pick! My book wasn't bad but not great either.

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Arm 1 is going to be suuuuuper difficult. I 'm sure I have something for the others.

I've got a nonfiction book I've been meaning to get to that will work. If not for that, I was looking at Scandicrime, which isn't my favorite. If I come up with another, I'll read a second.

Kari | 914 comments Teresa wrote: "Arm 1 is going to be suuuuuper difficult. I 'm sure I have something for the others."

Agreed, that's the hardest for me as well.
I saw these but I don't know if they're good, I haven't read them.
A Viking for Yule
Dragon Force
Midnight Sun
Nine Frosty Nights: Baes of Christmas

message 137: by Teresa (new)

Yeay, hope it's good! I might try the last one on the list, I'm still undecided.

Nvm - It is the original publish date I'm looking at LOL

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments I had to come and say Dragon Force was... not good. It had so many issues: continuity flaws, inconsistent character personalities, and head hopping. Although it has a 4.07 star rating, I looked at the people who rated it 5 stars and most have only one review and no picture, so take from that what you will. LOL

Oh dear - going by ratings can be so tricky. I've certainly read some stinkers for challenges, too. I'm sorry it was bad!

Not your fault in the least! It should have been good and right up my alley... And it's not like I had anything else that would fit the task 😆
