LaurLa | 380 comments I have finished my last as well. Will wait for Louise to check in but I'm okay if we call this done if it helps either of you!

message 202: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Hey Louise - did you want to finish this one out or call it done?

message 203: by Louise (new)

Louise | 73 comments Thank you both for your patience, it has been a tough few weeks and I’ve been struggling to find time to read. Things are finally settling down and my reading has picked up. I would like to continue with this one, I have a purple cover on audio to read after I have finished my current audio. Just need to find an alien book that I actually feel like reading.

message 204: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Excellent! I'm glad you're starting to feel, sort of, back to normal. I know when my mom passed, it was getting back to my normal stuff that helped me deal... and GR/reading is definitely my 'normal stuff'!

I'm glad things are starting to settle down for you. And of course we're happy to wait as long as you need. You would do the same for one of us as well. :)

If you can't find an alien book that you want to read, I did read To Be Taught, If Fortunate. It is tagged Aliens 47 times. It's a super quick audio if you want to do it yourself, or we can use mine if you want to do that.

Thank you Laura, I found one on my audible plus which doesn’t seem bad. The Alien's Ransom I’ve got a 4 hour car journey today so should be able to get through most of it

Violator
description
The Violator is the demonic (& true) form of the Clown. His current disguise is that of the Clown, a 5'6 overweight, balding man with menacing face paint. He is the Spawn's mentor and one of the Phlebiac Brothers. He is a very powerful force with superhuman strength the equivalent of 15 strong men. He can breathe fire, shapeshift, possess others, and survive multiple types of attacks except for decapitation from an angel or hellspawn. He views humanity as weak and thinks that demons should lead the armies of Hell, not Spawn. He is determined to prove his superiority to his master. Since he can't kill them without an order, he weakens them by causing them to waste their powers. He has died many times and been reanimated by his master. After the death of the Spawn, Clown started to build his own army to bring down the kingdom of Heaven. He kills anyone who is aware of the Spawn's demise. He isn't "Clowning Around".

Complete the following Tasks
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books with demons
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books with angels
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books with a bald character
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books with all the letters of SPAWN in the title/series

Laura | 166 comments I found this list. I'm off to check if The Heart Principle does have a bald character. But if so, I won't read it until we get next month's Uno cards because it does have a lovely Red cover.

Louise | 73 comments I’ve read that I can’t for the life of me remember if the hero was hairless

message 215: by Laura (new)

Laura | 166 comments I searched the text for “no hair” (bald wasn’t in there) and it mentions him buzzing his head.

message 216: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Yeah, I don't think he's bald because I remember the FMC talking about liking the feel of the short stubble on his head.

message 217: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments I don't know guys, do you want to keep going? Do I want to search too hard for an angel book? I started a series with angels in January but I wasn't really thinking to continue it at the moment. I don't know - thoughts?

message 218: by Laura (new)

Laura | 166 comments I’m fine either way.

message 219: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Oh! My current book has a bald guy!!! 😂

Louise | 73 comments I’m fine either way.

Back to the drawing board for this one. :)

Unless we are calling it? I'm fine with my books for this one. They are all ones I do want to read.

message 222: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Let's keep trudging along 😉 I've got the angel book but I probably won't read it until April starts.

message 223: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments I had forgotten about Lassiter in the BDB series! It will still likely be April before I get to it but at least I'm looking forward to it now 😁

I did notice a BDB on that list that I linked. But didn't you say you already found a bald guy in your current read?

message 225: by Laura (new)

Laura | 166 comments Never mind me. I just realized that you meant Lassiter as an angel. Not bald.

LaurLa | 380 comments Laura wrote: "Never mind me. I just realized that you meant Lassiter as an angel. Not bald."

What? You can't read my mind from 2-3 states away? Sorry, yes, I meant he's an angel.

message 227: by Laura (new)

Laura | 166 comments When I read I don't pictures characters in my head like a lot of people do. So my brain glosses over descriptions. I just had a scene in my book where a group was trying to detain/kidnap the main character. It wasn't until I got to the fourth "the bald one said" that my brain suddenly realized I had a bald character. I had to go back to make sure. :)

Laura | 166 comments I finished my last one for this clown.

message 230: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Oh, gosh. I think I forgot about this one! I still need to read for the angel, I think.. I'll try to get to it in the next week or so

Laura | 166 comments LaurLa wrote: "Oh, gosh. I think I forgot about this one! I still need to read for the angel, I think.. I'll try to get to it in the next week or so"

I finally got to mine because it was my G for Clue. :)

message 232: by Laura (new)

Laura | 166 comments How are you two coming with your last books for this one? I just finished mine last week, so no pressure from me!

I have read, quite by accident, another book that works for SPAWN, and I just finished Archangel's Ascension with angels galore. So if we want to put those in we can. But I'm also good to wait if you guys are already planning your reading or already reading.

message 233: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments I keep forgetting to read this because there's no other challenge pushing it on me! Maybe our new task in TART will work out for this one too!

message 234: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments OH, I also might have a shorter angel book - let me check on that again.

message 235: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Yay - my shorter book worked. There is a guardian angel in it. I've updated the spreadsheet.

Sounds good!

Louise, since the SPAWN task allows for the series title to be included, it looks like your book The Ops Room Girls actually works for the task.

Twisty
description
Twisty is a clown with a mental disability. He worked with Rusty Westchester's Traveling Circus. The carnival freaks, jealous of his popularity, spread a false rumor that he was molesting children. He lost his job and could no longer find work as a clown. He returned to his hometown to find his mother had died. Desperate and angry, he attempted suicide. He survived but his lower jaw had been blown off in the attempt. He began wearing a wide-grin prosthetic mask over his missing jaw. He also decided to make the children love him again by keeping them safe from their mean parents. They made them do chores and denied them candy.
He also thought the carnival freaks that cost him his job were "stealing" the children so he had to protect them from them as well. So he started wearing his clown suit and carried a sack that held his juggling pins. He became a bloodthirsty kidnapper and serial killer but he didn't realize that his actions were wrong.

Complete the following tasks
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books with characters that have a mental disability
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books that start with a letter in CIRCUS
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books with candy on the cover
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books with all the letters of the word JUGGLING in the title/series

message 239: by Laura (new)

Laura | 166 comments We'll see how this one goes. I've decided I'm not going to read any books especially for this one. I'll just add books as they fit. The spreadsheet currently won't let us select the Twisty tasks for the task column, but I posted in the Q&A for Donna to fix it.

Your SS is fixed

message 241: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 380 comments Works for me! I think I actually have books that work for all 4 without having to dig too deep! Not that I will get to them FAST or anything! And I'm double checking one with Donna in Q&A.
