I'm glad this one was picked as it's been on my to-read list ever since it came out - I even have a copy on my Kindle already.
Only downside? I have two books to finish, before I can start. Luckily it's still August!

I've had a copy for ages, so will have to find it! Like Liz I also have two books to finish so need to get on with them.
I read this book some time ago and it is definitely one of my favourites. It made me sad, it made me happy, it made me laugh out loud. What more do you need from a book.
I enjoyed reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. I found the plot moved along well, with lots of questions about what would happen next, which way the narrative would go. The characters were developed well. There was quite a bit of foreshadowing but the end still came as a surprise to me. All in all 3 ***
I loved this book, really well written making me laugh, smile and feel sad. Could see traits in everyone I know in Eleanor. One of the only books I’ve been able to read in a few days.
Eleanor, what a character, and what a lovely relationship and friendship developing within the story, guaranteed to go places! A lovely book, gifting the reader amusing insight into her thoughts and her take on events and circumstances. Yes Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, a lovely book club pick. And yep don’t see the reveal coming 🙂
It was my suggestion but I’ve yet to start. I’m glad it’s popular though! My sister gave me a copy, singing its praises!
I really enjoyed the book and could relate to the main character at times and her outlook on the rest of the world.Although Eleanor displayed symptoms of loneliness she was also very happy to not be part of a society’s ‘in crowd’.
I have recommended the book to others and wish there was a sequel. It left me wondering what if and what next.
Is this a sign of a good story?
Eleanor’s actions and outlook reminded me a little of the main character in The Maid by Nita Prose.
I read it several years ago and was pleasantly surprised. There was an underlayment of misery but it didn’t control the narrative; you could see hope coming even if you didn’t know when or how. I thought it was very well conceived.
Such a humane and charming book, full of humour in spite of the underlying sadness. So relevant to the modern world which can be alienating for some people.I’m glad others liked it too.
I enjoyed Eleanor Oliphant very much. I thought the author handled the difficult subject matter with skill.
I read a review, elsewhere in goodreads, that suggested that
Eleanor's formal speech and lack of knowledge of the culture was unrealistic, but I think she was spot on. I'm sad to say, I have met someone very like her. Sadly, unlike Eleanor, this woman didn't get the help she needed.
Overall I found the book moving and hopeful. Plus I didn't see that final twist coming! Definitely a good read.
