Mr. Flood's Last Resort - Plurals are ok - possessives are not.
Fireball - the only way Fire may be embedded in is Wildfire.

And, strictly speaking, you could complete this task without reading a book with/about a natural disaster at all. Many books have Fire in the title with no fire in the plot, and some of the books, particularly on the second list, left me wondering how the tagger decided on Natural Disaster.🤷♀️
I hope everyone decides to pick up at least one Natural Disaster book, but if not, that’s ok. Read what makes you happy!

Sorry!"
no problem - i found another book - just wanted to ask

Ha! I noticed that. I picked one from the list because I own it and haven't read it, but I have no idea how it qualifies. Surprise hurricane? Earthquake? Who knows? :)

It never hurts to ask. :)

I love reading those lists - sometimes the book listed are completely crazy!
I'm glad you found one you can knock off your TBR.

No, I'm sorry, Michelle - the only way fire may be embedded is in wildfire.
I hope you can find another option!

I've actually read that one, and liked it very much. Since the edition you're reading has earthquake in the subtitle, I think it's fine.
For anyone reading an edition of the book that does not include earthquake in the subtitle, I'm pretty sure it appears on one (or both) of the two lists.
Enjoy!

Thanks!

Thanks for the hint that the non-fiction book didn't need to be about a natural disaster. After 40 years of reading/teaching about them, I'm all (non-fiction) disastered out!

I may be offline for a few days. Hurricane Helene is on its way toward me, and I may lose power / internet service for a few days.
Apparently, I was prescient in selecting this task.....

Stay safe, Truitt. Don't worry about monitoring the task, one of us mods will step in to keep an eye on things in the meantime. You just worry about looking after yourself and your nearest and dearest. <3

I'm optimistic that the power will stay on, but this far inland we're not used to the windspeeds they're predicting. Trees going down are likely to to be the biggest issue, and there are a lot of trees where I live - whixh is normally a wonderful thing. :)
Given that I won't be working tomorrow, perhaps I can finally get caught up with this challenge!

In the U.S., September is National Preparedness Month (NPM).
