Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James

Has anyone read these? Opinions? I have read reviews and people seem to really love the series or really hate it - very few are indifferent. Apparently the Lucy James character is Holmes illegitimate daughter and they solve mysteries together. A few people compared it to Mary Russell series, but lighter in tone.
