My novella/short story Once Were Brothers was inspired by the real-life abduction of an English girl known as Queenie by Taranaki Maoris angered by the actions of her father. He was guilty of clearing land that was tapu, or sacred, to local Maori. Thankfully, that event had a happy ending.
The storyline for Once Were Brothers follows:
In 19th Century New Zealand, the Thomas family’s lives will never be the same again when seven-year-old Daniel Thomas is abducted from their farm by Maoris angered by the desecration of land that contains the bones of their ancestors.
The culprit, Daniel’s father, devotes his remaining years to searching for his missing blue-eyed, blond-haired son. Until his death a decade later, he’s assisted in his search by Daniel’s identical twin brother Benjamin. Like his father, Benjamin believes Daniel is still alive.
Twenty years later and now a family man himself with children of his own, Benjamin receives a tip-off that could confirm one way or another whether his brother is alive or dead.

My contacts are asking where they can obtain the paperback version of my adventure tale Once Were Brothers. To date, it’s only available via Amazon as a Kindle ebook. However, it’s also one of five stories in a box set titled
5 Short Story Gems: Once Were Brothers / Mr. 100% / A Gladiator's Love / The Last Tasmanian Tiger / Brooklyn Bankster which is available in paperback form via Amazon.
Happy reading!
