“You didn’t change your last name, did you…? Or first, for that matter…?”
``I changed my first name, and well that's about it``
“It’s- it’s me… Jasper… well, used to be Leonarda…”He let his accent slip.
``W-What- I thought you died!``Tears were forming into her eyes, shaking a lot.
“I did… twice…”He rubbed his arm, staring at the ground.
``What.....`` She mumbled, looking up at him, tears streaming down her face.
He stopped rubbing his arm, holding his hand over the scars not covered by his t-shirt, a habit he’d picked up years ago.
She tried to stop tears streaming down her face.``You left...and died twice.... while I was stuck with our grandparents before they shipped me off....``
“I couldn’t keep going… I tried to take find a way to take you with me, but I couldn’t protects four of us on my own…”
``all three of them are dead....I'm the only one left....``
(Wait that’d be five…? Since it’s ingrained in the lore I’m still counting Nova’s OCs, so four siblings overall-)“I tried…”
He seemed on the verge of tears, incredibly guilty, squeezing his arms.
(wait- shit uhhh- yeah i believe so)``I know you did....i tried too...``
She said, rushing over to him, and wrapping him in a hug.
He leaned into it a little., wrapping his arms around her.“I’m sorry… I’m so… so sorry…”
``Shhh.....its okay Jaz....``She mumbled, sniffling.
“Hey, hey… don’t cry…”He rubbed her back.
She just sobbed, shaking. ``E-Everyones gone....``
“Not everyone…”
``E-Everyone but you....`` she choked out, trying to wipe her tears.
“And that’s someone, right? So you’re not alone…”He ran a hand through her hair.
“See? Things are looking up a little already,”
``I was alone ever since i was 10....`` She sobbed, sniffling.
``Grandma shipped me off to a boarding school....``
“Well, you’re safe here, okay? Everyone else here, too… we’ll protect you…”
She blinked, trying to wipe away her tears again. ``Y-You sure...?``
“Swear on the life I have left.”
``O-Okay...`` She mumbled, the scars over her arms visible.
“Hey, hey, what’re those from…?”
She went quiet, shaking a little.
“It’s… I won’t judge… here, I can even show you some of mine, if it makes you more comfortable…”
``Grandma....and our parents got worse after you ran away....i-i couldn't take it anymore...``
“Well, you don’t have to worry about them anymore, okay? You’re safe here,”
“Here, how about we get you some tea and catch up a little, ‘Kay?”
She nodded. ``That sounds nice...``
“Alright, c’mon…”He kept an arm around her shoulders.
She walked to the kitchen, still looking around. ``You wont leave again....right?``
“Never again.”He booped her nose for emphasis.
``Yay, I'm glad your not leaving me again``
“Well, let’s get that tea, alright? Tea always brings good things… aside from burnt tongues-“
He let out a little laugh, grabbing a couple of mugs with dumb puns on them and some tea leaves.
“I might have a mug-hoarding problem-“(I also might have a mug-hoarding problem)
He rubbed the back of his neck, scooping tea leaves into shaped tea diffusers (one was an umbrella, the other was the Master Sword) and putting the mugs into the microwave.
``What are those?``She mumbled, looking at the tea diffusers.
“..tea holders? I think?”
“I dunno, they’re cool.”He took the mugs out of the microwave just before the beep, then plopped the tea holders in.
“Tea!”
He let out another little laugh, handing a mug over.
