SOLVED. Time traveling researchers [s]

A young woman joins a secret research organization. The researchers time travel to different points in the past to verify the accuracy of historical information. The young woman goes back to prehistoric times and almost gets stuck there. Later she defies the rules and goes back to rescue a colleague. She is ousted but later is able to return. The novel takes place in England.

I listened to the audio book last year (2014). I believe it is part of a series. I don't think it was YA but can't be sure.

Doesn't quite sound like it, but is it Doomsday Book By Connie Willis?

Not Doomsday Book nor The Life of the world to come. The main character had to go through training both classroom and outdoors before being chosen for her first assignment. She also fell in love with one of the instructors and had an affair with him. So I guess it wasn't YA, I can't believe I don't remember. Thanks for your efforts.

Just One Damned Thing After Another and the other chronciles of st mary's books - i'm listening to book 3 right now - set in England; she goes back to Troy in this one
