Marcus Harris In life not everyone like you for who you are ,especially characters in a novel. Harper Lee use characters such as Atticus in her novel “To Kill A Mockingbird” Atticus is hated by certain people in his community for use helping a black man in his trail. S.E. Hinton uses characters also to show us that not everyone is going to like you for who you are. Ponyboy is hated by a group of gang (Socs) because of his background. In both of these novels we can learned that in life not everyone is going to like you for who you are.

A common theme in both novels is that not everyone is going to like you for who you are. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy is hated by his gangs because of his background and his gang he is from. Also Ponyboy is hated by people at school because he act hood at school. For example Ponyboy pulled out his pocket knife during his worm dissection, one of his classmate scream and called him a hood , told “him to get out of here…..”. This shows that Ponyboy is hated for who he is. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus is hated by certain people in his community for helping a black man in his commotion. Also Atticus is hated by Mr. Ewell for going against him in court. For example Mr. Ewell spit on Atticus when they were getting out of the court, Mr.Ewell replied back with “That want you get for talking a black man voice above mine”. This shows that Atticus is hated by some people in his community for want he doing. From these two novels we can see that the authors build a mood and set up problem to engage the readers to stay with the novel

Although the novels have some similarities, there are some difference between two novels. Ponyboy novels takes place during the 60s and there are some different type of problems in the novel. For example Ponyboy wear different type of clothes than people in the novel To KIll A Mockingbird wear, POnyboy wear jeans jacket , and a white T-shirt. Another example is Ponyboy is in a gang with his brother and they are fighting the Socs. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus does not fight his enemies. Another example is Atticus use the court system to handle his problems with people in his community. For example Atticus is defending a black man with his problem by helping him in court.

In both “To Kill A Mockingbird” and “The Outsiders” we learned that there are some people who is not going to like you for who you are. The authors shows us that people not going to like you for being you by making characters suchs as Ponyboy, and Atticus. This helps us realize that not everyone going to like you.

Everyone in life needs to believe that you can’t judge people just by what they look like or where they come from.

In the novel “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, the characters are titled by what they look like and where they come from. For example, the people that live on the other side of town with the greasy hair and that look and are poor are labeled as the greasers. The people that are rich and fancy with nice cars are called the socs. In this story they label each other by how they look and where they come from.

The author does a good job in telling the story on how two different groups live their lives. And how some people can understand where greasers come from but some choose not to understand. In“ The Outsiders” S.E. Hinton uses greasy hair to show that they are proud. They are proud where they come from and proud to be a greaser.

They are proud to be greasers because when they were getting ready for the rumble Soda said to Ponyboy “put some grease in your hair” (chapter 10 and 11). This shows that they want people to know their greasers because grease represents them. Also, when they speak they proudly introduce themselves as greasers. For example, when pony first met cheer ( a soc ) he didn't stutter to tell her he was a greaser. Sometimes times got rough for them but they kept their head up.

In “The Outsiders” the grease in their hair symbolizes that they are proud. They are proud to be greasers and proud to be who they are. The grease in their hair they put in to show people they are a greaser because they don’t want to hide it.

In “The Outsiders” the author leads us through the life of a greaser and a soc but, leaves the readers off wondering questions . Like, Did they grow up to become a soc or a greaser? How did pony do in school? Did he go to college? The author never finished to tell what happened.

While the story stops showing us they are proud to be who they are, the author left us wondering how deos proud symbolize you.

Both texts share the idea that the characters can’t control anything they know. For example in “The Outsider“ by S.E. Hinton Dallas can’t control his feelings anymore and just goes on a rampage he does, because the only thing he cared for was Johnny and Johnny died from severe injuries. He let his emotions spread like a wild fire affecting everybody he knew that was still alive. In the song “Monster” by Skillet the lyrics mean they have no control over what they are doing to others. They said it in their lyrics “The secret side of me I never let you see I keep it caged but I can’t control it,” they mean that something inside of them is controlling them to do things that they don’t want to do.
This makes me think that in both texts, there is a really deep emotion that they have to release to control their lives, or else it will consume them. So i’m thinking that they both have emotions about depression or anger that needs to be released to have control over something, but they can’t obtain it unless they still have those emotions. I believe that it is true in both the text and lyrics that emotions are an uncontrollable factor in life that must be dealt with to handle your feelings that you keep deep inside the emptiness of your mind. So you’re either in control of your emotions, or they are to hard to control and take over you.

In both “The Outsiders” and “Monster” we learn that in life your emotions take control of your thoughts and your life. You believe that you either lose your emotions for nothing, or your emotions control your beliefs,or what you were trying to obtain.
In “The Outsiders” Dally loses control of all his emotions and reason, then starts rampaging in Tulsa. He then pulls out gun as a bluff and is shot, because he couldn’t contain his emotions. He died from blows to the chest. This is what happens to those who can’t control the pain of depression.
The same goes for “Monster” by Skillet they are trying to hold a darkness that could ruin them. They said in the song “I keep it caged but I can’t control it,” they’re saying that this dark emotion is slowly taking over their reasoning, and common sense. They don’t know how to control this feeling, because they’ve never dealt with it before. So when the emotion does leak through their soul they lose control they put in their lyrics,” I start to lose control, it’s something radical. I must confess that I feel like a monster.” That emotion was so powerful that it just consumed them and to took over how they feel on the outside.
This is the reason why both “The Outsiders” and “Monster” are how emotions cause you lose control of all that made sense to you. If you can’t learn to contain your emotions you’ll become a man/woman of terror and harm all that you care for.

message 11: by Haylyn (new)

Haylyn Both pieces of text The Outsiders and the song “You’ve Got a Friend In Me,” have many comparisons. “There isn’t anything I wouldn't do for you.” This express the same attachment as the greasers have for one another. They’d risk their own life to save one another. “Then I heard Johnny scream, and as I turned to go back for him,....” This is the scene where fire engulfs the church where Johnny and Pony were staying. He takes an effort to go back and save his friend.
The authors use repetition to symbolize importance. Randy Newman repeats .. “you’ve got a friend in me,” because it is the most important detail about his song. The other parts to the verses provide detail to describe its importance. S.E. Hinton uses repetition also to show importance but not only that, she uses it to grab the readers attention as well. S.E. Hinton constantly uses the idea of repetition to show what Pony is thinking about. These similarities show that they what to give the reader the same feeling and show the same topic.
In both The Outsiders, and “You’ve got a Friend in me,” we learn that friendship is more than simple. We learn from Randy Newman that friends should always be by your side no matter what, “We stick together, we can see it through,” nothing can break them apart. While in The Outsiders this is a pretty similar lesson. “ You really killed him, huh, Johnny?....”,” I had to. They were drowning you, Pony.” If a friendship is strong enough to where you literally do anything to save one another you know they have your back. Friendship means they will never leave you, they will always be there.
In both “You’ve got a Friend in me” and The Outsiders we catch on to the importance of friendship. Friends don’t only give you someone to talk to but also someone to trust. These pieces of literature may bring you to think differently about how you treat others. Loyalty is like pie it isn’t first come first serve, you have to work hard for a good slice.

message 12: by Fardosa (new)

Fardosa Aden Everyone in life should have a group of friends that they can call for help on. S. E. Hinton and Randy Newman both use the powerful words and the theme of friendship to show the reader how important friends are. In S.E. Hinton’s book The Outsiders, and Randy Newman’s song, ‘You Got A Friend In Me’, friendship affects the character and/or writer, immensely. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy-the main character and narrator-goes through many hardships and challenges, but the gang is always there for him and he can count on them for help. In ‘You Got A Friend In Me’, Newman repeats the message about friendship and shows what real friends are and how they feel. In both The Outsiders and ‘You Got A Friend In Me’, we learn that in life, its best to have friends that you have a close relationship with.
The theme in both texts is about friendship-there is a big emphasis on how to treat your friends and how you can count on your friends to help you out. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy and the rest of the gang help Johnny through his crisis after the murder of Bob. This tight bond of friendship helps them persevere through tough times. Ponyboy explains how they always leave their door unlocked,so tehri house can serve as a safe haven in case any of the guys got angry or needed to cool off. In ‘You Got A Friend In Me’, Randy Newman talks about how you can depend on him because he’s your friend and he’d always help, because that’s what friends are for. Newman says,”Just remember what your old pal said, ‘cause you got a friend in me.’ Newman also goes to explain what a friend is and how friends can help you. This shows that in both texts the writer wants to tell you that friends are a crucial part of living.
Although both the book and song talk about the theme-friendship-there are some contrasting items in the two. For example, In The Outsiders, Ponyboy talks about everyone in the ‘gang’ sticking together, and helping each other, no matter what may have happened, by keeping their temper down, giving them a place to rest, and other small things like that. It talks about how friends stick together and watch each others back. In Contrast, the song, ‘You Got A Friend In Me’, talks about how you would act towards your friend and how a friend is actually supposed to be loving, caring, and helpful. It shows how friends can be useful. However, both texts give advice on how to act with a friend and how close your relationship or bond should be whether by watching their back or simply aiding them when they need help.
In both The Outsiders, and ‘You Got A Friend In Me,’ we learn how friendship is an important part of someone’s life. After analyzing both the novel and the song, its up to readers to come to the decision whether or not to treat your friends as if you are close to them and are willing to help out or not. If we may want to be good friends, then we should follow what a good friend is in the song and how good friends stick with each other in the poem.

message 13: by Garrett (new)

Garrett Eubinger Most people in life make bad decisions whether they mean to or not. The text, The Outsiders, and the song We Will Rock You relate to this. They relate to the idea of someone, or a young man going to do something stupid, or unnecessary, and pays the price for it, which is getting all bloodied up, and being a disgrace to society.
Both texts, The Outsiders and We Will Rock You, share the idea of young people being a disgrace to society. The second verse of the song, “Buddy you're a young man hard man shoutin’ in the street gonna take one the world some day. You got blood on yo’ face you big disgrace wavin’ your banner all over the place. We will we will rock you (sing it!) we will we will rock you.” Relates to the scene in The Outsiders where they are at the rumble. Both of these scenes are about a young man gets into a fight and gets hurt/bloody in the process, and this makes them a disgrace to society because of what people might think of them after words. This makes me think that this happens too often, and should stop.
The second part of this song, We are the Champions, also relates to this scene, but later in the scene, and in a different way than the first part. When the greaser win the fight, they celebrate, as expected, and thats the whole meaning of the song. But, the very beginning of the second part if the song, ”I've paid my dues Time after time.I've done my sentence But committed no crime. And bad mistakes ‒I've made a few. I've had my share of sand kicked in my face but I've come through.” This to me is the greaser as a group. They make mistakes, pay their dues, pay a sentence but committed no crime, which in this case is getting jumped by the soc just because they are greasers.
These two texts are also different from each other. The second half of the song is about winning, and never losing, but the greasers aren’t like that, they lose in almost every way. They are poor, they have to work so hard for little outcome. And with the song, its about making bad choices and then coming through to be champions.
The Outsiders and We Will Rock You both have the idea of a young man going out to do something stupid and goes and pays the consequence. At the end of the day we are left wondering, how often does this happen, and is it true that people become a disgrace after just one mistake?

message 20: by Yuliana (new)

Yuliana Perez It doesn’t matter who is judging you, making you feel unwanted, or putting you down, you should never give up because life is given once and must be lived right. In the novel, The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton uses this statement to indicate this message. The song,“Beat it“ by Michael Jackson has a similarity with this universal statement. In the novel, The Outsiders, the community is a place where the society does get broken up by social class - Socs (rich people) and greasers (poor people). And one character - Ponyboy- dedicates himself to change, as a greaser. The writer of “Beat It,” Michael Jackson wants to get a message out there saying that if you ever go through a real struggle in life, just beat it. The novel, The Outsiders and the song “Beat it” by Michael Jackson both show us that you should do what you still can, no matter what is holding you down.
Both texts share a similarity where land could only be owned by the division of group of people based on society. In The Outsiders, the characters- Ponyboy and Johnny, have just ran away and found themselves in a park. In chapter 4, Socs “invade” the setting where Ponyboy and Johnny are at. Ponyboy asks “What do they want, this is our territory.” As the Socs come near, he tells them “ You’re outa your territory...You’d better watch it.” The greaser declares the territory. In the lyrics, “Beat it”, one of the lines at very beginning is, “They told him, Don’t you ever come around here. Don’t wanna see your face. You better disappear. “ In both texts the invasion in territories could lead up to things that would not want to be your risking your life for.
Both the novel and the song tell us that you should do what you still can, no matter what is holding you down. For example in the Outsiders, Ponyboy is told by Johnny to stay gold. What this is referring to is that you should stick to what is beautiful or what is you, and not minding the others that differ you. What this is similar to is the song when it says “No one wants to be defeated, Showin’ how funky strong is your fight, It doesn’t matter who is wrong or right.” In both texts, the main idea is that the outcome of life is to not worry whether life is good, what is important is to be strong for who you are.
Even though both lyrics and the novel indicate the statement that you should do what you still can while you are alive, there are differences on what exactly the meaning of the their themes mean. In The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton at the end, gives a message to the all the young boys that live like Ponyboy, that you shouldn’t hate the world or life as how it is because of how much of an outsider you feel or opportunities given by cause of the poor economy; to not give much importance being a “greaser”. While this is said, the lyrics give a slight of difference of what the theme is exactly. The lyrics that say so otherwise is where it says “ You have to show them that you’re really not scared, You’re playin’ with your life, this ain’t no truth or dare, They’ll kick you, then they beat you, then they’ll you it’s fair, So beat it, but you wanna be bad.” In this words, the meaning of this set of lyrics is that by being the label that you’re named, you have to show people that you are gladly in the win against a battle. But behind this two views of the message, we are told that nothing is impossible, all you have to do is be strong and fight for it.
In both, The Outsiders and the song “Beat it” show us that you should do what you still can, no matter what is holding you down because anything is possible by being strong. After analyzing both the novel and the song’s meaning, the readers take from this messages it is power of strength and courage to keep you moving on in life. Although we all had those times when we felt weak once in our lives we can still prove people wrong.

The story The Outsiders by S.E Hinton relates to the song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” by Randy Newman. It relates to it because in the book when Johnny killed Bob Ponyboy stayed his friend and helped him until he died. Not once did he turn his back on Johnny and he never refused to help, but he always was there when Johnny needed something. Another example of the song relating to the book was when Dally helped Ponyboy and Johnny escape after Johnny killed Bob. Dally helped them by getting them what they needed and told them where they needed to go. Even when they could stop hiding Dally gave them food and brought them home.
“There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you we stick together, we can see it through” this line in the song reminds me of the part just after Johnny killed Bob because Ponyboy didn’t run away and leave Johnny helpless. “And as the years go by our friendship will never die” this line reminds me of when Johnny died because after reading the letter Johnny left for him, Ponyboy said he would never forget him.
When Dally helped them get out of town it reminded me of the line “When the road looks rough ahead and you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed” because it would be a long journey from the night Johnny killed Bob til Johnny died. In the song and story it tells you that friends will stick with you no matter what and through whatever is going on. In the song he is basically saying whatever happens he’ll be right by your side. In the book S.E Hinton tells us what Ponyboy, Dally, and Johnny do for each other because no matter what happens they will always be there for each other. Both the story and song gives examples on what good friends would do.

In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton and song “You’ve got a friend in me” by Randy Newman it tells you what friends would do for one another. In the book it gives you examples by telling you what Ponyboy, Dally, and Johnny do for each other when Johnny kill Bob and in the song it tells you things that friends would do for each other like staying by their side or help them whenever they’re down.

message 22: by Allen (new)

Allen Lutz What does it take for people to be considered courageous? In both The Outsiders and Divergent, there are a few characters who show courage throughout the book. It may be just by saying “Hello” or by even saying “no” to your mom. But in these books, these characters,Tris and Ponyboy, show courage.
In the beginning of the book Divergent Tris starts out in a faction. She is about to take the test to see which faction she will transfer to. Once she takes the test she will then and only then take on a new life. In the new life she will have to overcome any obstacle she faces. With this knowledge you can start to see how courageous she will become.
Tris is with her friend Tobias, and they are trying to shut down this whole test. They have found out what the test actually does to a person. They found out that they were destined to take out the test. So Tris and Tobias try to stop it, but there is only one problem...there are guards that watch over the building where the test is. But they do it anyway! Even this is just courageous.
In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton she makes the main character, Ponyboy, to be courageous. Ponyboy can be courageous but also a little scared. Pony runs away from home with his friend Johnny. They also kill a man in the process. Now thats courageous.
Ponyboy, and Johnny save kids from a burning building! Johnny even gets hurt in the process of saving these kids. If you don’t think that courageous, then you must be crazy. I don’t think anyone, other than a firefighter, would do anything like that.
Now as you can see, I have gave you just a few scenes from the books to show how courageous/strong Tris, and Ponyboy are. Tris is a very courageous girl, while Ponyboy is a very courageous, scared boy. Theres no doubt about it! They both even risked their life to save others. That has to take some courage. I can almost guarantee that no one would do any of that in this time period we live in.

Kameron You’ve Got A Friend In Me
Ponyboy and Darry the book The Outsiders Ponyboy and his brother Darry had a bad relationship but through out the good and bad they still stayed together and had each other back when one is in harm or anything. That just like Buzz and Woody in the movie Buzz Light Year.
Buzz and Woody got into a argument and they weren't talking to each other to each other for a while. y where acting the same way in the book. I love the fact that this song has the lyrics that say “Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am bigger and stronger too maybe but none of them will ever love you the way I do It's me and you boy” i like that because its like the symbol of Ponyboy and Darry relationship. I also really like when the song said “And as the years go by our friendship will never die you're gonna see it's our destiny you've got a friend in me”. Now they're not friends but they did have the friend relationship like Buzz and Woody. Its also similar because they're all in gangs/packs. Pony and Darry are in a gang and Woody and Buzz are toys so they can't be in a gang but there in the same household or belong to the same person so they are kind in the pack. The toys have arguments like the boys but they always end up saving one another at the end. Thee both like girl boy relationships because they end up being fine and happily in love and fine in on chapter or scene.
In the book The Outsiders and the song you've got a friend in me they compare the relationship between Ponyboy and Darry and Buzz and Woody like at the end of the day the boys get back together.

message 28: by Molly (new)

Molly Brogan Everyone in this world as friends, close friends, and maybe even best-friends. And almost all those people have been through good times and bad times with their friends but they are always there. S.E Hinton uses this universal feeling people have with their friends in her story “The Outsiders”. Randy Newman also uses this friend statement in his song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”. In “The Outsiders”, the Greasers have a close relationship, even though not every day is good they can get through it. In “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” he is talking about through any of your tough times just remember that your friend(s) are always there for you. In both “The Outsiders” and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”, we learn that in life, you and your friends may go through tough times but they are always there for you.

A common theme in both of the texts is that when you are feeling down just remember you can always turn to your friends. In “The Outsiders” Ponyboy and Johnny are really close friends, and you may know that Johnny doesn’t live with his parents. This makes Johnny upset at sometimes but at other times he is himself and all happy. Because of this, Ponyboy and his brothers leave their front door open so if Johnny ever needs a place to stay he can go with Pony. In “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” “ When the road looks rough ahead And you’re miles and miles away from your nice warm bed …. Just remember you’ve got a friend in me”. This is saying that even though you may think the path ahead of you is going to be tough or if you don’t have anywhere to go remember you have your friend there with you. In both texts the people are realizing that no matter how they feel (mad, sad, happy etc.) their friends are always there in need.

Although both texts show how it feels to know your friends are there for you, there are differences between how that theme occurs in the two texts. In “The Outsiders” S.E Hinton shows us that your friends are there for you when you need somewhere to go. Pony lets any of the Greasers come in whenever they want because they may need somewhere to hang or to stay, but it doesn’t matter because they know they can count on Pony. In contrast, in “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” Randy Newman shows us that your friends are there for you though many different examples and he is reminding us that we have our friends with us. But even though both texts may have different ways of showing how our friends are always there for us, they still express the same theme throughout the text.
In both “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” by Randy Newman, shows us that throughout our life our friends are always there for us. After reading over both the story and song, readers might conclude that we get to choose if we want to turn to our friends when we know they are there or not. Though we all may have felt the same feeling, knowing that are friends comfort us when we need them the most, we don’t have to think that our friends are never there for us because they are.

The Outsiders and Beat it by Michael Jackson
In both The Outsiders and Beat it By Michael Jackson they have two different social classes fighting. In both it has the better looking popular kids saying to the not so good looking poor kids ‘’Beat it!’’, get out of our territory, we don’t want you here. In The Outsiders bab can relate to Michael Jackson in ‘’Beat It’’ they are both the clean cut and the popular people. ‘’No one wants to be defeated’’ as it says in Beat It they are willing to fight as in The Outsiders also. I think that the poor people are more willing to fight for what they have because they don’t have much the ritch kids get everything handed to them so they don’t have a challenges in life.In both Beat It by Michael Jackson and The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton , we learn that society can be divided by social classes, and the social classes can end up fighting.
In The outsiders it is about two social classes fighting, one because they think they are better than others they are the Soc’s. The Soc’s go and try to beat up the Greasers, the Greasers just defend themselves. They are on the poor side of town and so they haven’t really got much but each other. The Soc’s are the rich kids they get everything they want, they are spoiled from their parents from birth so they think that they are better than the Greasers.
In the song Beat it by Michael Jackson, Michael is walking down the road and he gets surrounded by men that is where the name of the song comes from they want him to ‘’Beat it’’ and get out of his territory. Just like in The Outsiders the Greasers couldn’t walk through the soc side of town or they would get into a fight. But in the end the Greasers won. In the song Michael was the ‘’Soc’’ in this situation all the other men in the song were the Greasers who were the one saying ‘’Beat it’’ it is in the same manner as when the Soc’s come into the Greasers territory and want to make some trouble because they have been drinking.
In both Beat It by Michael Jackson and The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton , we learn that society can be divided by social classes, and the social classes can end up fighting. Just as in any circumstances if someone doesn't agree with you on something or don't like the way you are then they might bully you and if you want to you would defend yourself which could end up in a fight for yourself to survive. If you were in a fight with a bully just trying to defend yourself, would you fight or fall back?

In The Outsiders by: S.E Hinton there is a song that relates to The Outsiders called “Beat It” by Michael Jackson. The song relates to the beef of the Greasers and the Socs. They have an intense rivalry in which one Soc gets killed. This relates to how the Socs talk to the Greasers. These both relate to violence and gang activity.

The Socs and the Greasers have an intense rivalry in which a Soc named Bob was killed by Johnny Ponyboys best friend. In the Song there is a quote that says “They told him, "Don't you ever come around here.Don't wanna see your face. You better disappear." This represents the beef between the Greasers and the Socs. Randy Bob’s friend is mad at johhny for killing his friend Bob. The Socs are winning the feud/war against the Greasers the only thing that separates them is wealth. The Greasers are poor and the Socs are rich. “You better run, you better do what you can Don't wanna see no blood, don't be a macho man.You wanna be tough, better do what you can So beat it, but you wanna be bad” This proves that the Socs don’t like the greasers.

All in all this song relates to the rivalry between the Socs and Greasers.Beat it represents beef between two groups of people. These quotes tell it all between them.If you are looking for a comparison to the Outsiders beat it is the one.`

Jaelyn York Both the book and the song and poem by Robert Frost “The Outsiders” and “Stay Gold” poem and song by First Aid Kit are the same because they talk about staying gold because it’s a good way to be.Also, the book, song and poem are the same for example the book talks about being young and dawn and the song explains “So dawn goes down today” and in the poem he Robert “So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.”
In,the middle I learned that they put these two things together so that reader’s get the point of being gold because the author and songwriter want the reader’s to understand the true meaning of gold. Example of what the author and songwriter wrote in the book and song “...I’ve been thinking about it,and that poem ,that guy that wrote it,he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day.Like the way you dig sunsets,Pony. That’s gold.Keep that way,It’s a good way to be…” and the example from the song is “The sun shone high those few summer days Left us in a song,wide-eyed haze it shone like gold but just as the moon it shines straight So dawn goes down today No gold can stay No gold can stay…”This talks about being young and how dawn something is also this talks about if nothing is gold then nothing can stay just like the poem Robert Frost wrote saying”Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.”This shows that including a poem writer wants you as a reader to understand the true meaning of stay gold.Therefor, because of such great writers they are willing to take time into showing you how and what gold means because they don’t want you reading anything that could tell you a lie or a answer that could make you question what it means.

In conclusion both book and song and including a poem by Robert Frost are the same because they both talk about staying gold and every time someone reads this there going to know what staying gold means. There is so much information and examples that clearly state what staying gold means.Although if you still don’t get it basically it means by staying gold it’s a great way to be because if you’re not gold then nothing gold can stay.Hopefully by reading this it shows people the true meaning of gold. Also, maybe influences people to change the way they live because being gold is a great way to be just listen to author he knows what he’s talking about.

I love this assignment! My 7th Grade just finished The Outsiders and we're going to use these examples next week to talk about structuring our own literary analysis essays! Finding REAL mentor texts from peers is nigh impossible! So excited.

I did a school project on this last year, but we didn’t compare the book to another one. But if you were to, I think that ‘That Was Then, This Is Now’ (another book by S.E. Hinton) would be a good one to do. Since Ponyboy is a cameo in this one and it almost has the same stuff in it. But it is very different too. So I think that That Was Then, This is Now would be a good choice. I read it after The Outsiders, and I loved it. Not for school, but for personal entertainment.
