description

Ask all of your Killer Clown Roundup questions here.

Q: Where is the first place I should look for answers regarding challenge rules?
A: Message 1 of your thread

Q: I don't like clowns but I still want to play. Can I play without pictures?
A: Definitely. Please specify this in your signup post and I will mark this. When you are assigned to (or sign up with a team) your thread will be marked "No Pictures" and you will play the game with no pictures. The only clowns you will see will be on the signup page. If you can get past that ONE picture, you will be good to go.

Q: How many players will be on a team?
A: Three

Q: Can I request to be on a team?
A: Yes, you may sign up as part of a team. Most team requests will be honored UNLESS your reading averages are too extreme. We will tell you if we feel they are an unfair advantage against the other teams. Basically, if multiple members read over 50 books a month, you should reconsider your team.

Q: Is there a time limit for doing each one?
A: No, especially if you are playing non-competitive. If you are playing competitively, obviously you want to rack up points before the end of the game.

Q: Can you read prompts in any order?
A: Of course

Q: Can you use books you've started already?
A: Finish date is what counts in this challenge

Q: Can you a team member read the same book if it works for a task or does it have to different??
A: Of course, you can read the same book! We have had people do buddy reads for this challenge. You get bonus points for different buddy-read tiers, so definitely cash in on those points!

Q: Is all the prompts based on having clowns in it somehow?
A: General prompts. I use the description of the clown to come up with the tasks. So if the clown does something special the tasks may be based on that or something else in the description. No clown tasks. You won’t have to read clown books. I promise.

Q: What can we use for spell-outs?
A: Title, Author, First & Last initial, Series

Q: Do we need to complete the tasks for one chain before going for a different one
A: Unless specified, no. There are some things that are specified as having to be done first. Other than that, you can do chains in any order. You may work on multiple chains at the same time.

Q: Can I listen to audiobooks?
A: Yes, please use the default edition for the page count

Q: Do we need to have completion posts in our threads or is completing the information on the spreadsheet all that is required?
A: Only entering information in the SS is required. Completion posts are not necessary unless you feel like doing extra work.

Q: Can we switch from a competitive team to a noncompetitive team?
A: Yes, but don't make this decision lightly. If you decide to switch you will NOT be able to switch back to competitive. I am NOT taking any more competitive teams. So if your team switches, it is a permanent move. PM me if you decide to switch.

Q: Can it be any type of hunting? Animals, Witches, Vampires, Fugitives, Clues, Killers hunting victims, etc..?
A: Sure

Q: For tags, how may times should they be tagged?
A: A minimum of 10 times

Audiobooks are fine. Use the default page count.

message 24: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments I think that is an abridged version, which is why Alyana is asking. It is about 1/3 the time of the original as an audio book.

message 25: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7441 comments Mod
It doesn't say that. It says

This adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984 is an immersive listening experience, containing scenes that some may find uncomfortable. Listener discretion is advised.

I may need to revisit this. I asked Alyana to come back here. I was under the impression this was just a regular audiobook.

message 27: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1904 comments It's an audible drama with all cast narration. Since it's really hard for me to look for an apocalypse book, I'm trying if I can use that one instead since it's shorter.. If not, I'll keep looking.

On its own, there is a slim chance that it is stylized flames BUT the male MC is a fireman and the title is Melt for Him. It kind of makes sense that it is a flame. You are approved to use it.

I swear I saw another question similar to this with another word. I had to leave and I couldn't find it when I got back. I will answer this for both words.

For all words in titles/series:
I will accept the following endings....
s, ing, ed

For those who have the clown Tickles:

The first task is all the letters of TICKLES, not the word tickles in the title/series. Although, the word tickles counts if you manage to find it. LOL!
