Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 1749 comments Can we change the books later once a clown is completed if we read one with a higher page number than what we had

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 1749 comments Also what is the rule on time period for rereads for this?

All the letters in a combination of the title and series or all the letters in title or series?

No, you have already submitted your clown.

Per HOB Standard rules:
❀Re-reads are accepted if it has been six months since you have read the book

I have made a decision concerning banking books.

Competitive books:
I am saying no at this time. The game has already started. I feel that it is wrong to introduce a new rule after a competitive challenge has already started. I may be convinced to add it to the next round of Roundup.

Non-Competitive
My poll received a fair amount of yes votes from non-competitive players. So I am allowing these players to bank books with 2 caveats.
1. The team must agree to bank books. If the team members don't agree to this, then there is no banking.
2. If a clown has a required order banked books may only be used for the first part. Banked books cannot be used for the second part. They MUST be new books.

*Note* Consider this a test for the next roundup. You are my guinea pigs test volunteers to help me decide if it is appropriate to use in the competitive version next year.

Most of them, yes. But for certain clowns, there are two parts and you have to complete part one before moving to part two.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3781 comments How about author's middle initials? Would we need to also find both Rs in a word if using intials for J.R.R. Tolkien, for example?

message 73: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7467 comments Mod
I was only considering the first & last initials. I know some of you like to make things infinitely harder on yourselves than I intend. Simplify folks.

message 74: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3781 comments Awesome, thanks!

another question:

Read a chain of 3 books with Red, White & Green covers (no other colors allowed - except for text)

does that mean One of those colours each, or three books that have any or all of those colours on?

And can there be black detailing/outlines like in D A Tale of Two Worlds by Michel Faber or The Dragon Republic (The Poppy War, #2) by R.F. Kuang or does it need to be a completely solid colour (they are rare, especially in those colours! lol)

message 75: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7467 comments Mod
Wow, you guys put a lot of thought into this. Ok, I will allow black detailing & outlines. Each book may have one, two, or all of the colors listed. They do not have to have the same colors. Book 1 may have red & white. Book 2 might have green and book 3 might have all three colors. It is up to you.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3781 comments I blame being around Judith... she's the one that cackles with glee every time she thinks of a particularly evil task for people to do (you know you do Judith... I can hear you from here! 😜)

I can't say that I didn't throw in a couple of those kinds of tasks in this game. There is one in particular that I can think of that I expect a few "you're evil" comments thrown at me for. Nobody has picked that clown yet.

message 80: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3781 comments Yes, but the real question is: did you cackle when you thought of it? 😆

Knowing my luck, that will be the next clown we get, as it's my turn to pick.

message 86: by Laura (new)

Laura | 153 comments 2 questions for Pennywise:

Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books that start with a letter in SPIDER

Are we each reading any letter we want to, or do we pick a letter and each read for the same letter?

Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books that have 25 or 27 intact in the page count (example: 250 pgs or 127 pgs)

Same question for this. Are we picking one of these as a team, or each of us reading our own choice.

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7467 comments Mod
Leg 1: You each pick a letter. They do not need to be the same.

Leg 2: You each pick one. They do not need to be the same.

If I don't specify, you may each do your own thing.

I will take it if he discovers that he is a father in the book. Or if the book mentions that he has a daughter then it counts.

Is does mention that he is the father - there is a big argument that he was never told and now he is getting to know the daughter. It is a romance 😀
