Alphabet Soup Chain Game
Example of a few rounds of play:
The first book calls for an author name and the letters C, N
Reader 1 posts a completion of Letters to a Young Gymnast by Nadia Comaneci (7/30)
Reader 1 wants to do a title/subtitle next and chooses just 3 letters (4 is pretty hard). Reader 1 sets the letter generator to 3 letters and gets A, M, W. Reader 1 would post this under their book completion:
Next book: title/subtitle, letters A, M, W
Reader 2 sees this and has just finished a book that will satisfy this set of criteria. Reader 2 posts a completion of The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton (7/31)
(note that it's the A in the word At in the title that works for this, since only the first letter of each word can be used)
Reader 2 wants to do a series name next and does just 2 letters. Reader 2 sets the letter generator to 2 letters and gets D, G. Reader 2 would post this under their book completion:
Next book: series name, letters D, G
Reader 3 sees this and has just finished a book that will satisfy this set of criteria. Reader 3 posts a completion of The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare (8/1)
(note that the series name has to be spelled out because it doesn't get added with the title)
Now Reader 3 can set the letters for the next book using author, title/subtitle or series name and then letters from the letter generator. Reader 3 might post:
Next book: title/subtitle, letters T, O, P

Title (not subtitle): V S
Just for clarity here - usually you CAN use words from both the title and subtitle when that option is selected. But, since Richard chose just two letters, I agree it's appropriate to restrict it to just the title.

Oh sorry, I didn't mean to disrupt the game. I just thought it'd be fun to add a bit of a challenge.
No, I think it makes perfect sense! But, we digress...
The next book is:

Need to use both letters?
Why am I not surprised, Richard? Lol. Maybe give others a few days to see if anything pops up...

This is a simple game based on the concept of alphabet soup. Everyone will participate in the same chain. When you complete a book that satisfies the current criteria, post your book completion and set up the next book.
To set up the next book, first choose one of three categories:
1. author name
2. title and subtitle (if any)
3. series name
For all categories, the letters can be filled in any order.
For title, the first letters of words in the title/subtitle must be found.
For series name, the first letters of words in the series name must be found.
Then go to the random letter generator below and enter the number of letters you want generated. If choosing author initials, please stick to just 2 letters. For title/subtitle you can go up to 4 letters. For series name, go with just 2 or 3 letters.
Also note the "Unique letters in sequence" box. If you check this, all letters generated will be different. If the letter combination you get seems too impossible (like QQZ) please redo it!

Book completions should give title, author and date finished, and also subtitle or series name if your completion relies on either of those.
