Rowan, seeing this, was slightly impressed, and at the same time, determined to beat that.
Rowan turned at the sound of the boy’s voice. Is he talking to me? Rowan thought.
“Well, hate to break it to you, but Robin Hood isn’t real.” Rowan said. “And “that shot” isnt hard to do.”
Rowan scoffed. “Really, topping it isn’t hard either.”
Rowan shook their head before notching an arrow in their bow. They shot it, then quickly grabbed and notched another one. The first arrow hit the bullseye, and so did the second one not long after.
“Of course.” Rowan said, looking back at the boy. “Why would I say that if it wasn’t?”
Rowan raised an eyebrow before returning to their archery. After all, that was why they were there in the first place.
Rowan noticed the sigh, and with a sigh of his own turned to face the boy. “What’d you expect, a conversation?”
“My sigh was for human interaction.” Rowan said before shooting another arrow.
Rowan nodded. They supposed they should try to make an effort in the conversation. “What cabin are you in?”
Rowan shrugged. “I dunno, but somehow there’s tons of cabins.”
Rowan nodded. “Yep, and tons of demigods.” They turned to shot another arrow.
“That’s a nice name.” They replied. “Mine’s Rowan Nekros.”
An amused expression appeared on Rowan’s face. “Pleasure to meet you as well.”
Rowan rolled his eyes before shooting, his arrow splitting the first one in half.
“Seven years at camp will make you good at Archery,” Rowan said. “And I’d much rather be in Tartarus cabin than Apollo cabin.”
“2,333 days, but whose counting?” Rowan shrugged.
Rowan rolled their eyes, but a slight smile came to their lips.
Rowan nodded. “Swords are overrated, I prefer daggers.”
Rowan nodded as they looked at Phoenix, making eye contact for ten seconds or so, before turning to look at the target.
“What?” Rowan asked, looking back at Phoenix.
Rowan looked slightly surprised, but then returned to their normal facial expression. They muttered a response that was unintelligible. ( your totally fine )
Rowan noticed how Phoenix’s eyes remained on him. “You’re staring.” He pointed out.
Rowan looked surprised yet again. “Really?” They said, making eye contact with Phoenix.
A small smile appeared on Rowan’s face, as he found himself making prolonged eye contact with Phoenix.
Rowan looked away, blushing slightly as well.
Rowan watched as Phoenix began to walk away.
Rowan was tempted to walk after Phoenix, though every brain cell they had was screaming at them not to.
Rowan, happy about an excuse to follow Phoenix, no concerned about Phoenix, began to walk over to where he was.
Eyes widening, Rowan immediately rushed to help Phoenix. They pulled out sword, which was made out of a monster they’d killed years ago. Knowing that its underbelly was a weak spot, they ran towards it, first cutting the pectines on it. The scorpion shrieked.
Rowan immediately went over to Phoenix, observing the state of his hand.
With a sigh Rowan grabbed Phoenix’s shoulder, using the shadow of what was left of the scorpion to shadow travel to the infirmary.
Rowan held onto Phoenix, carrying him in their arms as they appeared outside the infirmary. They opened the door and a medic immediately grabbed Phoenix.
As they walked to the archery range, every step Jewel took, her head hurt even more. She bit her tongue to make sure she didn’t reach back and touch it.
