Is anyone shocked by the price jump on E-books?

I buy almost all of my books but saw books that were $5.99 and $6.99 by favorite authors now at $11.99 for upcoming releases and I am not buying E-books at that price.
Does anyone feel the same way? Are we being punked by book sellers and publishers? This is utterly disgraceful and I think as consumers we must take a stand to boycott purchasing e-books at these ridiculously elevated prices.
