Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Shari and Creed, are you still with us?

I need to get stuff done around the house today, in preparation for school start, so I might not get much reading done until bedtime. I'll check whether there's an audiobook available on Libby that would fit something or other.

Have a great Saturday!

This is the advantage of audiobooks, you can adjust the speed to the limit that is understandable to you ( sometimes more than x2, it depends on the narrator 🤪)
I have to admit that I panicked when I realized that the readathon coincided with the renovations I had pending at home, plus the death of my dog was still fresh and perhaps I saw the horizon darker than I should have, I tend to be somewhat pessimistic, until I was bitten by the competing bug 🐞🕵‍♀️

Same, on both accounts! lol.

I tend to zone out with audiobooks, specially if I'm multi-tasking. My brain is always going so it's hard to focus if I'm not entirely focused. Which is why I enjoy reading and listening simultaneously.

I think my max listening speed tends to be 1.25, or 1.50 if I'm actively listening. It also depends on the genre, obviously. There's little that annoys me more when I'm listening to a non-fiction book, than to have to go back x-number of pages because I "forgot" that I was supposed to be listening 😂

That is a double prompt though, so you can both read something pertaining to it 😊

Blagica | 12942 comments Finished 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World

going to add it to the Numbers Prompt unless you all think it should go in the time?
EDIT-I'm not sure how to do the Prompt points since I completed only 1 of 3 but my ebook was 320 if someone wants to do the math for it. Do i just add 100 to it or do we wait until 2 more books are read?/

message 112: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine | 2386 comments Looks like Lisa think it should be in numbers for now. But its a good point to keep in mind. Maybe someone will be be to add a book in numbers and then we could move your book to time…

message 113: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Good morning Literary Detectives
You're all so amazing! We're doing great so far. Wishing you all a fantastic Sunday, filled with lots of reading.

Blagica, the spreadsheet is setup to automatically add the prompt points once the set (doubles or triples, respectively) is complete. So all you need to add is the amount of pages, just as you have done 😊

message 114: by Carmen (new)

Carmen | 8125 comments Good morning, team!
Yesterday I forgot to post my progress.
I completed 2 books and started a new one.
My progress in message #38
Since it was yet to determine which prompt to use Asesinato en la librería in, I set it to "weapon" (there is a dagger on the cover), we can change it later if necessary.
Asesinato en la librería by Sue Minix

message 115: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments that's completely fine, Carmen. I wasn't sure where it made most sense in relation to what others were reading, so I didn't set it anything.

message 116: by Carmen (new)

Carmen | 8125 comments Although the print edition of "El saltamontes verde" has 144 pages (I think it includes more tales), the audiobook only lasts one hour, which I think does not meet the requirements for the readathon.
If we have a gap in any prompt, I will try to find another book with more than 100 pages.
I'm going to delete it in the spredsheet.

message 117: by Shari (new)

Shari | 487 comments I completed my first book last night. The Second-Worst Restaurant in France
Moving on to my second book. Think I will read Key Lime Pie Murder

message 120: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine | 2386 comments I've finished Les rues de Laredo ( The streets of Laredo) and with it, the double prompt 'vehicles' is done! Yeah! Now going to start another book for proper title.

message 121: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine | 2386 comments I'm hoping to finish reading Le Ventre de Paris tomorrow. I've considered the prompt "body parts" for this book since "ventre" means "belly." However, I was also thinking about using the "deities" prompt. This idea came to me because of the association with Prince Paris from Greek mythology.

Paris (Ancient Greek: Πάρις), also known as Alexander (Ἀλέξανδρος, Aléxandros), is a significant figure in the story of the Trojan War. He appears in numerous Greek legends and works of Ancient Greek literature, such as the Iliad. In myth, he is the prince of Troy, son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba, and the younger brother of Prince Hector. His elopement with Helen sparks the Trojan War, during which he fatally wounds Achilles.

What do you think?

Hola, Lorreine!
I think the "deities/gods" prompt is already done by Blagica (Neon Gods), but you can use it for the "Body Part" and I'll change "In the viscount's arms" to "Building" and "Castigo" to "Children's toys"

message 128: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine | 2386 comments Hello Team. Hope everyone is well.
Unfortunately, I had to remove 2 books from the spreadsheet. I think 300 something pages is now a maximum for me...maybe at the end I'll be able to add some short books but for now 7 books in 7 days seems about the maximum I can do.

message 129: by Blagica , Challenges (new)

Blagica | 12942 comments that is ok. which prompts were they going to fill?

message 130: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine | 2386 comments I've remove La septième Lune that could have filled things in the sky or numbers and The Beekeeper of Aleppo that could have filled insects, bugs and profession/occupation.

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Good evening team ,
I apologize for my inactiveness in the last 24h hours. It's been a bit busy around here. I'll check on everything tonight and tomorrow morning and do a follow up of any updates I've been missing, as well as start a new book (or two), since I just don't think I've got the energy for it tonight.

I hope you've all had an amazing third day of reading !

Hola!
Why don't you put it for the "Article of clothing" prompt? There's a leather jacket on the cover. It'll earn us 50 more points 🤑

message 146: by Carmen (new)

Carmen | 8125 comments Hi, Team!
I have been looking in the spredsheet at the planning and have made some book adjustments to fit as many prompts as possible. Anyway, I think we still need a few books to have everything covered.
Lisa, I hope you don't mind my interference, I'm a bit of a control freak and I like to know in advance what book for what prompt I need to read.
Things are looking better and better!
Way to go, Literary Detectives!

message 147: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Good morning, Literary Detectives,

I'm currently looking through the spreadsheet now. So, if you see any random twiddling it's probably me.
Will update where we are in terms of progress as soon as I'm done.

Also, a quick reminder to please not delete X's from the planning tab, even if the books are assigned to a prompt or complete. It makes it easier to move around if needed later on.

Have a fantastic reading day!

There are 2 books I haven’t started yet. One for the planets prompts (Venus privée) and one for type of crime (murder: Les meurtres du Red Powers). If it is needed that I change one or two let me know. I am not expecting to start them today so there is time for me to find new ones and read them starting tomorrow. Hope I make sense. Still very early here in Montreal 🙀
