I wish I could read this one. Miami is my hometown and I read the Herald everyday for years. Unfortunately now living in Arizona I can't get this book. It makes me have the sads, lol.

Dang it, Gem. Library doesn’t have it?

Icewineanne | 725 comments I read this way back in the 90s & loved it. Excellent true crime stories from a woman who worked as a crime beat reporter. This book reads like fiction, it’s very difficult to put down once you start reading. It was published back in 1987 (probably why it’s difficult to find copies now). Hopefully you can find a copy!

I've started but I'm making slow progress because I find it necessary to look up these cases and read more about them. I haven't recognized one of the cases yet but I have a feeling most of these occurred in the poorer parts of the city (although the author doesn't tell where they occurred) and those crimes are often not reported by the press.

Ah, interesting! And that’s sad about the lack of coverage in those cases.

I'm still reading this selection, I'll add more thoughts as I get through it. I haven't had much time to read lately.

Still reading too. It’s picking up steam as I go. Also, she’s an impressive gal.

Gem, did you finish this one? I enjoyed it more and more as I progressed through the book, and I fell in love with Edna Buchanan. Some interesting history here too.
