Through a team effort the count was brought down to 170-something.
Then librarians started falling away, through burn-out or other reasons; Emmy unfairly lost her librarian status (which was pure bullshit after all the work she put into this site.)
Someone was rude to Linde to the point where that user should be banned from GR forever, and now she isn't as active anymore.
Olga had a new direction to follow, and I wish her all the best.
And as for me...I'm sorry that I haven't been on here helping very much over the past several months. My brother became very sick in September and after 1 month in the hospital, fighting for his life, his body shut down and we lost him. I've been in deep mourning and lost interest in so many things.
I'm back now and although my heart still aches with loss, I'm ready to start helping again.
I wish all of you Good Health and Happiness in 2025!
And now, let's start dropping those Add Books numbers again!!!

I also did not know anything about Linde's bad experiences, but I have been wondering all the time what happened to her and why she was no longer active here in this group... Now I understand.
I hope that now Jaclyn's back things at Goodreads will take a turn for the better again and I'm still willing to continue my efforts to diminish the number of outstanding request.
I wish you, all colleague librarians and all so-called assistent librarians that I got to know here in this group a happy and healthy 2025!

I heard about Linde's issue and I fully agree, that user should have been banned. Instead we lost a valuable active Librarian.
I'd be happy to have a go at adding the Fanfic, Wattpad, A03 etc which Linde was overseeing as there are loads of requests. However, I'm not 100% confident about doing them and with the current issues of Librarians being removed for simple mistakes without warning, I take no chances. It's also why I, and I suspect other librarians, skip over so many less straightforward Add requests. Fear of making a mistake and loss of status. Of course this means your input is much appreciated Edwina, as many of these would not be actioned if not for you and other Librarian assistants, Priscilla included of course.

Thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot.
December was extra rough as Christmas Day would have been his 76th Birthday. All of those "firsts" when a loved one has gone are very hard days.

Thanks for the research.
313 - 318 Completed
(Not sure what is needed to mark the ACE for 318, I added a hint to the description - hope that is what's intended

Edwina meant that both the previous edition ánd the new ACE should be so marked in the description field too (not merely in a librarian note).
I added
An alternative cover edition for this ASIN can be found here
in this record's description field:

Ah, thank you. I will keep that in mind for the future

It's only natural that in such dramatic situations, we loose interest in many things and let apathy strike in.
You did a tremendous work, either by 'assisting' (I don't really like this word, it makes it seem like it is a minor role, which it isn't) the librarians, either bringing the Book Chat to life.
I noticed, and I believe most of the people here noticed you going 'dormant' in here, but I always tend to believe, that when someone turns inactive, is because they found something more interesting than helping here.
That was what I believed had happened to you... and to Linde.
I didn't know that she turned inactive here because of someone being rude to her. It's really sad to see someone being rude to a volunteer that is spending their free time helping them, getting the book they want, added to GR.
It's really frustrating and demotivating feeling that our work isn't appreciated and on top of that, being flamed by someone we are trying to help. So I totally understand Linde's decision.
But to be honest, I would expect a lot more 'unpleasant' posts from users, as from their end, the adding books process is also very frustrating.
I remember when I first learned that I could no longer add or edit books in GR, that only 'librarians' could do it. I remember trying to figure out why I couldn't add a book to GR, going to the Librarian Group (which is overwhelming for a first timer) and making my request.
I remember that on my first request, I checked in every couple of hours to see if the book was already added. It took some days to be added, and I was not happy with it. Now imagine waiting over a year...
On another request, I remember being extra cautious taking the details from my book, and then someone asking for a link to confirm the details.
'Why do you need a link if I have the book in my hands and gave you all the details?' I thought....
On another request, the cover I provided wasn't accepted. It had to be from an 'accepted source'...
It's not easy on the requester side too. I'm not excusing bad behaviour, but we can't loose sight of how it is on the other end.
The whole Adding and Editing books should be different from making requests in a Forum. Maybe someday I'll share my opinion on how that process should be, if I have the patience for it, and feel that GR is receptive to know it.

I know very well how it feels to be on the other side of this.
I had recently posted a "Crazy Bot" request asking for an ISBN to be checked. The librarian replied that they didn't understand my post and if I wanted a book added then I needed to post in the Adding Books folder. I explained that sometimes the bot deleted books for no reason, and they needed to be restored and maybe another librarian could explain to them how to do this.
The librarian replied that there was no reason for me to be rude because they didn't understand my post. Then they restored the book.
I was not being rude. I thought they were a new librarian that didn't know about Crazy Bot deleting valid books and they needed a more experienced librarian to explain it to them.
It made me feel horrible that the librarian thought I was being rude, but I left it alone. Sometimes you just have to walk away from combative people.

You of all ppl here should know how it is to be on the other side of the fence.
It was more like a general reflection on how this system may be frustrating for both the people that request edits, and for those who help them.
The 'Crazy Bot' is something that is not easy to understand for a new librarian.
I was lucky enough to have an experienced librarian explaing me, even before I started helping in the Librarian Group, that GR has an automated tool that imports books from Amazon, and that its mess/fix ratio was kind of high.

As a Ukrainian living abroad, I’ve been deeply involved in supporting my country during this difficult time of war. It’s been both intense and emotionally draining, and I’ve found that Goodreads has become a place where I can pause, breathe, and lose myself in stories for a little while. Thank you for creating and maintaining this space—it truly helps more than you might realize.
Edwina, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. Please know you’re in my thoughts.
Wishing everyone a bright and book-filled 2025, filled with kindness and stories that inspire.

You and your Mother country are both in my thoughts also.
Whenever I see news reports on Ukraine, I can't help but think about my Austrian Momma, who as a young teenaged girl was buried alive for 3 days before being dug out. She was in a bomb shelter, the building was bombed, and it came down on top of everyone. Her best friend died when the gas line was broken, and she was trapped under rubble and could not escape the gas.
And now, there is someone just as power-hungry and insane as Hitler was who wants to take over the world, bringing death and destruction to good people and costing so many innocent lives.
My heart breaks for your country and the people there fighting to survive.

Thank you! That's all heart-breaking... but still makes us stronger every day, I believe in that.

#1, #2, #3 of 335 Done
The first entry in 335 should be merged with the other editions, so i bookmarked them and do that once the tool is available again
The Last two in 335 need a cover, but i would prefer if someone speaking Russian could confim the links to covers are valid sources.
