off-topic: do you know why combining requests are not having Librarians attention anymore?
is this feature blocked or smth else?
I have tons of requests which no one takes care yet..

Linde | 6549 comments @Ollie, I don't know how that is for others. For me, I like it that I can move topics to done, it gives satisfaction somehow. Right now that is only possible with adding new books. And for me that is also more important, having the books on Goodreads, then fixing things comes right after that.
For me, it is also quite some clicking and open windows to be able to combine:
1. First author name must be the same
2. We need the editions page number. So go to the book > see all editions > go to the URL and copy number at the end of the url > do that for all editions that need to be combined > have the numbers with just a comma in between the numbers > go to the "combine editions page" of the author > paste the numbers > select the books > click combine > done

Linde | 6549 comments So it helps al lot when someone share the editions pag URL instead of the book page URL

Thank you for the advise...
I still have hopes someone could help with my long threads which are year(s) old :-)
Unfortunately, I can't become a Librarian...

Bruno Rodrigues | 14517 comments #150 - I think this thread is useful. Maybe it doesn't have a big impact in lowering the backlog, but it is a way of quickly closing some requests pointed to us by people that can't close requests themselves.

#162 - I agree with Linde here. It is somehow more satisfying to 'close' the requests I address. I sometimes help with other things like fixing book details, adding pagecounts, ect, but I quickly return to adding new books, not because I like this task more, but because I can close the request when I'm done.

As much as I understand that satisfying feeling, I'm sad. I love "fixing things" %-)
I lost several fellow Librarians who took care of my long-long threads of fixing/combining... some of them just lost interest, or don't visit goodreads anymore...

yeah, thank you

Linde | 6549 comments @Ollie, maybe it helps to make the new ones shorter, so that it is achievable for a librarian to fix it in one sitting. So a Project per author or series or even a book if there are many things to do for that book. That way they can be moved to Archived by you more quickly too

Linde | 6549 comments So smaller chunks might speed things up

Comic, no ISBN. I know that there is a standard reply to this type of request.

It should but has to be OP doing it.
It isn't in 'Adding new books' section, so there isn't a 'close' option for librarians
