Saving Noah
question
What are your thoughts/feelings after reading this book?

In my honest opinion, I truly loved the way this book made me think. It's such a unique perspective that not many people can put themselves into. This was one of the only books (so far) that has made me actually cry. I don't disagree with the reasons Noah wanted to end his life, but my heart absolutely broke for Adrianne. Was she in denial and would she had been an enabler? Absolutely. But I think it's in a mothers nature to try and see the best in their child despite what they do. It's truly unconditional love.
As for Noah, I can't imagine being so self aware about something as awful as being attracted to children. Do I think he deserves forgiveness? No. Do I think he should have continued living? Not if he knew he would reoffend. But to know that you're a monster and there is nothing you can do about it? Excruciating. That's why I don't disagree with his choice to end his life. Again, it's just an impossible situation to navigate, and I feel like this was the most sane decision to prevent any more harm from happening.

As I read, I kept wondering how I would have reacted if Noah were my child. For me, his unwavering remorse and awareness of the impact of his thoughts and actions, made the book so much more heartbreaking. Although I gravitate to mystery and thriller novels, I appreciate books that make me think.
This book made me ugly cry. As a mother, I do not know what I would do in this case. It is a heartbreaking decision. I don't know what the right choice is in a situation like this.
