SOLVED - Editing author profiles vs editing books

Why is it that sometimes you only need to edit the incorrect author profile in order to move the books to the correct profile, and other times you have to edit the author name on each and every book before they will be moved?

i think it depends on which one you select

if you try to correct the book record - then you only need to correct the incorrect author name

if you select the author name, then you need to edit their profile to make it correct

I have seen 2 things for that.
1) The author name is slightly different on multiple editions (hidden character sometimes)
2) Book has to go to a GR author page, so you cannot merge the author.

In this case it was indeed option 2. I never realized that was the reason. Live and learn!
