M. A. Hickman (mahickman) | 29 comments I have recently decided to step out of my comfort zone and follow my dream of writing. So a few months back I started writing my first story. I am wanting to get some feed back on it(other then friendsnand family) so I was wondering what sites are best in your opinion. I know there is wattpad, scribid, and fictionpad along with on here at goodread which I did post my first chapter on here but have not gotten very much exposure. So which do you prefer as a writer and as a reader.

Sandra J Jackson (sjjackson) | 24 comments I first posted my story on Wattpad. At first I put the whole thing up. Then someone who started to read suggested that I take it down and only post one or two chapters a week. That way it kept my story at the top of the new list and it wasn't buried. I had much success with this site and now my novel has just been published and was released in mid March. Getting feedback from family and friends is great, but even better when it comes from strangers. I know what it's like to step out of your comfort zone. It's what I did. Now I have a website, a blog etc. I even just had my first interview for the local paper, which came out today. It's a tough decision but well worth it. Good luck with your journey. If you would like any other info (i.e. publishers) send me a message.

M. A. Hickman (mahickman) | 29 comments Wow Sandra that is awesome. Congrats on the book being published. I would love to check it out whats the name of the book? And I will for sure be hitting you up for info and advise.

Claire (Book Blog Bird) (clairebookblogbird) I used Authonomy - it's run by HarperCollins and it's a forum for writers to post part or all of their manuscripts for other writers to read and comment on. The expectation is that you'll provide comments and critique on other people's work in return. I got some really useful feedback. Strangers tend to be a lot more honest with their appraisals so a 'Wow, that's good' from someone you've never met means an awful lot!

Teresa | 606 comments I use Scribophile. The basic sign up is free and you can upgrade to the more premium version if you want. You post a chapter at a time and will need to review other people's writing to earn enough points to submit yours.
