Hana | 58 comments Hello! Does anyone know fantasy series or any series that doesn't have any romance at all? Or at least the romance is something in the background that isn't noticeably or isn't the main focus? Thanks!

maru (dustherondale) | 1 comments not a series, but the sword of kaigen is an amazing high fantasy book, really character focused (with an amazing story too!) but i'd say the main relationship in these books is not romantic but rather that of mother/son, as the book two protagonist are mamoru and his mother, misaki.

Hana | 58 comments Jade City is actually on my tbr, but now I'm more excited to read it!
I've heard about The Sword of Kaigen before. maybe I'll add it to my tbr, thanks!

alva :• (alvadarell) | 46 comments the bear and the nightingale! the romance is barely there in the first two books and it is definitively not the main plot in the third.

alva :• (alvadarell) | 46 comments another rec is spinning silver by naomi novik. it's not a series, but it's so good and the romance is only hinted at. you can also try classics such as a song of ice and fire. odin's child is also a great fantasy trilogy with only a tiny sprinkle of romance.

C. Meagel | 17 comments The first law trilogy

Audrey Oberg (audreyoberg) Six of Crows! It has some romance, but not too much. Even my little brother read it, and he barely reads books that aren't Harry Potter.

☆EmilyEverAfter☆ (emilyeverafter) | 102 comments Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. The first book is The Final Empire. It's really heavy on the super unique magic system and world building but easy enough to understand. I loved it.

The Wheel of Time is on my TBR but I have heard great things about it! Fantasy comparable to Tolkien and little to no romance.

Hana | 58 comments thank you all!
@Alva, wait do you mean that A Song of Ice and Fire isn't spicy?

message 17: by Hana (new)

Hana | 58 comments and does anyone know if Daughter of the Pirate King spicy or not?

message 18: by maja (new)

maja | 151 comments daughter of the pirate king is not spicy

Meghan | 9 comments The Liveship Traders series by Robyn Hobb. She has other series, but that is the only one I have read, so far. Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman might be one to try, though that edges on horror.

message 20: by Rox (new)

Rox (roxyfoxy) The poppy war
Shadow of the fox
Anything from Sanderson
