It definitely impacted my vision of Nawal character. In the first pages you see Nawal in the eyes of her childrens (more from Simon pov)
So she appears to be a unsensitive mother and she just give up on her child. But after knowing what she's been throught it put light on the character and the softness of her choices in life (because at first she was looking for her first born).
If she choose to became silent about her truth, it's a brave choice and at first her children didn't respected that but at the end, they all chose the silent, because sometimes silence is the truthful way to speak (sorry for my english I don't know if I made myself clear english isn't my first language)
