I wasn't surprised when the 2008 financial crisis happened. It was coming. But the big banks knew that governments and their politicians would never allow the banking sector to collapse. It would be economically, socially and politically catastrophic. The casino banks knew that politicians would spend their political capital saving it. Win-win. But that was then. Things have changed, and the road is further travelled now. Will the most powerful really choose to put all their eggs in that same basket again?

Maybe the politicians won't be needed at all next time round. After all, humanity is a learning species.
