This area is for any discussion about the July 2024 Book to Screen selection, Shutter Island, before we begin reading it.

~~~
The year is 1954. U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his new partner, Chuck Aule, have come to Shutter Island, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to investigate the disappearance of a patient. Multiple murderess Rachel Solando is loose somewhere on this remote and barren island, despite having been kept in a locked cell under constant surveillance. As a killer hurricane relentlessly bears down on them, a strange case takes on even darker, more sinister shades—with hints of radical experimentation, horrifying surgeries, and lethal countermoves made in the cause of a covert shadow war. No one is going to escape Shutter Island unscathed, because nothing at Ashecliffe Hospital is what it seems. But then neither is Teddy Daniels.
Peacejanz | 90 comments This is one of my all time favorite books. It is a mystery and remains a mystery to me. Weird stuff on an island for criminals who are insane. Read carefully. Not all things seem as they are presented. I will come back when you start discussing weird stuff. peace, janz
Tiffany (herbtiff) | 176 comments Well, I have this one ready to listen to thru the library. I'm kind of excited since I haven't watched the movie either.
Devon (dgivi13) | 176 comments @Tiffany you and me both! I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than a few scenes of the movie. This is a good excuse to sit down and watch it now haha
Tiffany (herbtiff) | 176 comments As soon as I'm finished with the book, I'm going to find the movie.
Peacejanz | 90 comments The book. The book - so many little triggers or clues in the book. Two men go to the island looking for a criminal who has been judged insane. Weird things happen. peace, janz
Tiffany (herbtiff) | 176 comments @peacejanz, come discuss on the active reading. I wanna chat about it.
Peacejanz | 90 comments Ok - what do you want to chat about? Two federals go to that island and start looking around. What topic do you want to hit on? peace, janz
Dawn (dawnella77) | 156 comments I just bought it today on Amazon so I will start reading it ASAP so I can have a some time to discuss.
Peacejanz | 90 comments Teddy is the featured voice. What is happening to him? Why are things so weird? Are they putting something in his food on the island prison? Since it is an island, he has to stay there. What happened to his partner? peace, janz
Devon (dgivi13) | 176 comments @dawn i bought it in kindle for like $2 because my library loan expired as i was reading it this week. U and i are in the same boat haha
@jan you got me thinking 🧐
message 12: by Dawn (new) - rated it 5 stars
Dawn (dawnella77) | 156 comments Yes Devon very true -I bought it for $1.99 too so I am glad I have it now and look forward to the challenge of reading it. I have see the movie and remember how good it was , although I do not recall the ending or the premise. I just know it was scary.
Peacejanz | 90 comments Hope the movie was accurate to the book. I have read it several times and I still do not know the answer. Who is speaking at the end? Is it Teddy? If not Teddy, who? And again, what happened to his partner? It is a weird book. But I always want to understand, to know the answers. I am looking forward to answers about this book. peace, janz
