1. Who was your favorite character?

Eric was probably my favorite, but surprisingly some secondary characters came super close to that ranking: Lena and Uralis Faunt. I liked Mason and Seria, but I think I will like them more in future books than I did in this one.

2. Who was your least favorite character?

Dreeya

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be?

I would clean up the writing some, especially the switching of POVs mid-section.

4. What did you think of the ending? (spoiler tags, please!)

The ending had me on the edge of my seat! From chapter 61 on is a nail-biting experience.

5. What was your overall opinion?

Despite the "new author feel", the story is engaging! A classic, yet complex, good against evil story with budding redemption arcs. I am looking forward to Lightshed!

Mary Emma Sivils | 638 comments 1. Who was your favorite character?

Probably Seria? After that, Mason.

2. Least favorite character?

I don’t remember his name, but that guy who showed up drunk at Seria’s house was super annoying!

3. If you change one part of the book, what would it be?

The terms “darkmen” and “shadowmen” felt a little obvious and cliche. Also I struggled to get used to the name “Lambient” because it just looked like the word ambient with an L slapped onto the front.

4. What did you think of the ending?

I enjoyed the ending! The last 25% of the book was the most exciting and interesting to me!

5. What was your overall opinion?

It took awhile for the story to draw me in, and it didn’t particularly stand out from other Christian fantasy I’ve read, but the plot and characters grew more compelling in the second half, and the ending left me wanting to continue!

I also agree with the darkmen and shadowmen names being cliche

I also feel like the light vs darkness theme is VERY obvious; like it could def be a bit less pronounced

Oh, definitely.
Although I have read a book where the story revolves around the light vs darkness theme, and I felt like it was done very well!
(Where Darkness Dwells by Andrea Renae, in case anyone’s curious.)

✧Bella✧ | 6773 comments 1. Who was your favorite character?

Prob Mason

2. Who was your least favorite character?

I literally have no idea. Ira doesn't really seem to count, Neither does Dreeya, honestly.

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be?

*Considers which issue should take priority* I think I would have cut out Mason's thoughts about other young women Seria's age. Adn maybe tweaked the allegory? Idk for sure.

4. What did you think of the ending? (spoiler tags, please!)

Ngl, I am here for it. That last scene? Mm-hm.

5. What was your overall opinion?

I found it to be kinda meh, although there were some points where I was more interested. Maybe it's just not my thing, but it was enjoyable a lot of the time, and I'll prob read the second one at some point.
