Trying to find a book

It wouldn’t let me post without the book there, but this has nothing to do with that book. Sorry. I’m looking for a book I read when I was younger. I can’t remember the tittle of author. I think it was published before 2009.
The story is about a guy who goes to an alien planet to find out why the base camp is no longer sending updates. When he arrives, he sees that almost everyone was killed by the local flora and fauna. Only two members of the team are missing and he decides to look for them outside the base. The planet is extremely inhospitable to humans from the blindingly bright sunlight that makes using your bare eyes to see nearly impossible, to the fact that the human body is apparently full of all kinds of nutrients that are very important for the local flora and fauna. I remember he was in some sort of mech suit to protect him, but he was walking across a field of fragile glass like bubble plants when the mech started to take damage from the broken shards. He was too far into the field to go back, but he barely made it out. Unfortunately his mech now won’t move and he can’t just stay there, so he gets out and continues. He eventually meets a sentient local and they are telepathic. They are able to communicate after the local “fixes” his brain though only with a direct line to his brain.
I could keep going, but this is getting a little long. If anyone knows the name of this book I would be very grateful. If any other info would help I will be glad to answer! Thanks for helping!
